About Julia

London based Violist with a passion for creating music in a variety of contexts.
Violist
London
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Julia began playing violin at the age of seven, and later made the switch to viola at the age of fifteen. Soon after that she was awarded a music scholarship for her A Level studies, which paved the way for her to obtain a First Class BA (Hons) in Music and Creative Music Technology at Anglia Ruskin University. Following her degree, Julia moved to London where she is currently working as a freelance musician. She is the co-founder of the alternative rock outfit, Echo Trails, who released their second EP in 2016, and was featured in Marie Claire magazine. With Echo Trails, and other projects, Julia has played in eclectic venues across London, including Rich Mix, The Jamboree, The National Portrait Gallery, and The Bussey Building, as well as a number of festivals including Brownstock and Standon Calling. As well performing, Julia is also a passionate music educator. She is currently working with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST), who work to transform the lives of children and young people through music. Previous work has included workshops with charities helping adults with learning disabilities, and mental health issues, as well sessions in a prison, and at the children's Refugee Council, and training at Spitalfields Music and CM Sounds. Julia is extremely excited to now be playing as part of the 'String Ting' Jazz programme with Tomorrow's Warriors, under the invaluable guidance of Gary Crosby OBE. With a trio formed within this programme she has performed at the London Jazz Festival, the Woman of the World Festival, the Yehudi Menuhin Festival, as well as with Gary Crosby's Jazz Jamaica at Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2016.
