About Julia Seibert

Classical guitar in the salon tradition: fully memorised performances shaped around the mood of your room and the rhythm of your event.
Guitarist

Public liability insurance of £10 million

I’m an award-winning classical guitarist based in London, specialising in fully memorised performances for private gatherings, dinners, receptions and cultural events. I trained in the traditional conservatoire world, studying at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin before completing my Master’s degree with Distinction at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. There, I received the Strings Department Medal for the highest level of achievement and was awarded several further prizes for artistic excellence. Although my training was rooted in the concert hall, I have always been particularly drawn to the intimacy of the guitar: its ability to hold attention without overwhelming a room, and to create an atmosphere that feels personal rather than imposed. This led me back to the European salon tradition, when music formed a natural part of social life and belonged to drawing rooms, dinners, conversations and gatherings. My performances sit somewhere between a formal recital and conventional background music; I call this approach social listening. The music can welcome guests, shape transitions through an evening and come forward during quieter moments, while still allowing conversation and the life of the room to continue around it. Rather than arriving with a rigid programme, I respond to the setting, the guests and the changing mood of the occasion. I perform entirely from memory and have more than five hours of repertoire available. My programmes range from Bach, Vivaldi, Chopin and Schubert to Piazzolla, Spanish and Latin American music, alongside my own arrangements for solo guitar. This breadth allows me to create performances suited to the individual character of an event, whether the atmosphere calls for something contemplative, elegant, warm or more animated. Over more than a decade of performing, I have played in concert halls, historic buildings, private homes, cultural institutions and contemporary event spaces. Selected engagements have included performances at Wigmore Hall, the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, Salesforce Tower, ExCeL London and events for Pomellato. I have also performed internationally across the UK and Europe. In 2025, I premiered Concerto Arabesco, a work written for and dedicated to me by composer Andrés Miranda. Born in Istanbul, educated in Washington, D.C. and trained in Berlin and London, I bring an international background and work comfortably across several languages. I am equally attentive to the artistic and practical sides of an engagement: arriving prepared, coordinating carefully with organisers and adapting discreetly to the flow of the event. My playing has been described as “intimate and sincere,” with “an understated but powerful presence,” capable of “conveying things beyond words.” My aim is always to make the music feel inseparable from the occasion, give the room its own musical character, and leave guests feeling that they experienced something genuinely distinctive.

We had a really wonderful experience booking Julia to play at our wedding. She communicated really well with us ahead of the day and was so accommodating - even learning a piece outside of her usual repertoire a short notice. On the day she was super professional and played beautifully, adding just the touch of class we were hoping for. So many of our guests were really impressed.

Julia is an extraordinarily talented musician who really made our wedding so beautifully special. Our guests were blown away by her and we cannot have imagined our day without her. A true professional, very timely, intuitive to our event needs and very collaborative with other performers and suppliers. I highly recommend Julia for any event.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients often say my guitar feels like a string quartet in miniature: intimate, warm, and expressive.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I’ve performed at venues including Wigmore Hall, the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, Lighthouse Poole, and Blackheath Halls. I’ve also played internationally in the United States, Turkey, Germany, and Portugal, both in concert settings and at private events and weddings.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

My biggest influences have been my teachers: Graham Devine, Piotr Pakhomkin, Eugenia Kanthou, and Arash Ahmadi. Each helped me discover a different side of the guitar: not just technique, but the never-ending possibilities that exist beyond its six strings. And it all started with my dad, who first put a guitar in my hands.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

One of my most high-profile performances was the Luthiers’ Demonstration Concert at the Royal Greenwich Guitar Festival, where I was invited to showcase instruments by leading guitar makers.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Events rarely run exactly to schedule, but that’s no problem! I’m used to adapting. If things shift a little on the day, I’ll adjust so the music still fits seamlessly. For bigger changes to the plan, just let me know in advance and I’ll work with you to make it run smoothly.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I don’t offer a DJ service, but I can usually perform with minimal or no breaks to keep the music flowing throughout if needed.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually need around an hour to set up and soundcheck, sometimes a little longer depending on the space. This ensures everything is in place and the sound is balanced, so the music can flow seamlessly once your guests arrive.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely! I’ll share my repertoire list with you in advance, and you’re welcome to choose any favourites for your event. Most clients prefer to highlight a few must-have pieces and then leave me to shape the rest of the programme to suit the atmosphere on the day.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes! I provide everything needed for my performance, including my guitar and amplification (if required). All I need from the venue is a standard power source, a chair without arms, and an appropriate space to set up.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes! I’m happy to prepare special requests to make your event personal and memorable. I already have a wide repertoire, but if there’s a particular piece that isn’t on my list, I can usually arrange and learn it for you.
