Julia is now studying for a Masters degree as a scholar at the Royal College of Music supported by a Douglas and Hilda Simmonds Award, studying with Dr. Felix Andrievsky and Sasha Rozhdestvensky. In 2004, she commenced her studies at The Purcell School of Music on a full scholarship funded by the Government’s Music and Dance Scheme. She has appeared extensively in various concert venues across the UK. Julia has recently given solo performances in Duino and Trieste (Italy) and Piran (Slovenia) as part of the New Virtuosi International Violin Mastercourse. She has also given performances with a string quartet and British accordionist, Owen Murray, at the 2015 International Accordion Festival in Castelfidardo, Italy. Other recent performances include recitals at London’s JW3 Concerts series, Burgh House, the Painswick Music Society, the Bolivar Hall, Pittville Pump Room and St. Mark’s Church in Edinburgh. Julia has also recently given a recital for the Cheltenham Contemporary Concerts series at the Parabola Arts Centre. She has appeared as a soloist with the Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra in the Cheltenham Performing Arts Festival having received the Keith Nutland Award. Another highlight includes a performance of Bach’s Triple Violin Concerto in the Virtuoso Violin Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon. Additionally, she has also given recitals in Pontlevoy, France and Kragerø, Norway. Julia has participated in masterclasses with internationally renowned artists such as Pavel Vernikov, Lewis Kaplan, Svetlana Makarova, Zvi Zeitlin, Savely Shalman, Rimma Sushanskaya and Peter Herresthal. Julia was recently accepted to the Aurora International Chamber Music Festival performing in various venues around Sweden. She has also been involved in a concert of contemporary works at the Wigmore Hall with members of the Nash Ensemble. Julia has given concerts in various chamber groups at the Southbank Centre for a project on Béla Bartók, St. James’ Piccadilly, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Proms at St. Jude’s. Due to her interest in the contemporary repertoire, she has premiered a work for 4 violins by Italian composer, Simone Fontanelli. As an orchestral musician, Julia has recently performed at venues such as the Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall under the baton of distinguished conductors including Sir Roger Norrington, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Jac Van Steen and in a concert of works by Steve Reich, in the presence of the composer. Julia is grateful to have received additional support towards her studies from the John Edmond’s Charity, the Annett Trust, the Lumb’s Foundation and various kind individuals. She plays on a violin generously loaned by the Tompkins Tate Trust.
