Juice Soundsystem

I am a DJ based in Sheffield. My heart is primarily drawn towards funk, soul and hip-hop however I have expanded this to include RnB, 90s, 80s pop and disco as well as 60s, indie, Motown and rock and roll. Since 2006 I have been a regular on the Sheffield scene, playing in bars, clubs and pubs in the city and also running my own club night. I now have a range that covers Manchester, Nottingham, Leeds and Lincoln, setting up for events as diverse as festival-styled weddings, boutique club events and themed birthdays. I became a DJ through a love of music have had since around the age of 3, developing various obsessions with bands, artists and genres. As a result, I am versed in a few of the more obscure genres as well as having a deep knowledge of the well-known party tunes. This, combined with my experience working in a large variety of settings has made me a very confident all-rounder. The list of venues includes West Street Live, The Old House, The Wick at Both Ends, The Harley, Bungalows and Bears, as well as The Nottingham House, The Cremorne, The West End and quite a few more. HIGHLIGHTS 2009-2012 Drop The Bomb Funk/Soul/Hip-Hop night based in Sheffield, featuring live musical acts, local rap artists and breakdancers. With a roster of 4 resident DJs, I headed up this team who brought hard-hitting funk to the city. Bringing together sounds from 70s America, Afrobeats, 90s/00s Hip-hop and breaks, this night pushed boundaries and helped solidify my early identity as a DJ. Playing here also got me regular gigs at the effortlessly cool bar The Wick at Both Ends. 2011-2014 Old House Sheffield Just as I felt like handing the towel in as a DJ, I was offered a permanent weekly residency at this busy city-centre venue. The requirements here were constantly varying, with a constant footfall of 22-45 y/old clientele expecting music ranging from the sophisticated to the raucous. 2016-2019 West Street Live I likened working at this late license 4 am bar to 'riding a bucking bronco', in that once I found the groove it was a case of holding on to that energy. Catering to primarily student-age clientele was a huge learning experience in terms of keeping a dancefloor alive and also in terms of building a cohesive set over hours rather than minutes. Here I could indulge my penchant for more 'street' sounds such as hip-hop, R 'n B, drum n bass and bassline - through a 5.8kW sound system. Great times.
