Juan Whist, an exceptional unique voice arisen from the mixture of different influences, cultures and genres like jazz, soul, blues, RnB and flamenco. With an early training in several musical instruments and a deep knowledge of sound that highlights a remarkable vocation for music and creative curiosity. A genuine artist, whose personality on stage, vocal texture and runs are easily recognizable.
The musical career of Juan Whist takes a new dimension after the recording in 2012 of his first studio project “Be Tween” with Spanish Grammy awarded music producer Ximo Gimeno. The release of this first EP also means the foundation of his first live band and the start of a concert tour throughout Spain.
In 2013 Juan moves to London, where he starts gradually gaining more and more relevance inside the Jazz-Soul music circuit of the city, which eventually leads him to perform in some of the most prestigious venues of the British capital. Also in London, he first meets Robin Banerjee, Amy Winehouse´s guitar player, who after listening to Juan singing in a jam session, is very impressed with his talent and superb voice and becomes his formal guitar player.
In 2015, Juan Whist travels to Madrid to take part in the popular TV show “ The Voice” in its Spanish version, forming part of the “Team Malu” and witnessing an exponential increase of his media popularity in his home country.
Over the past few years, Juan has shared stage with musicians of artists such as Stevie Wonder, Michael Bublé, Dolly Parton or Michael Jackson, as well as performed at many major theatres and international Jazz festivals. Currently, Juan Whist lives halfway between London and Valencia and combines his singing career with other activities such as music producer, vocal coach and voice actor.
