Born in Neath, Joseph is currently studying on the Vocal and Opera course at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the tuition of renowned Tenor, Adrian Thompson. The Inaugural Welsh Association of Male Choirs Layton Watkins Accompanist Award Winner, Joseph will make his debut at the Royal Albert Hall later in 2018, accompanying part of the Massed Festival of Male Choirs. Alongside his studies, Joseph is a former double Organ and Choral Scholar at The Metropolitan Cathedral of St David, Cardiff and now sings on the Back Row as a Tenor with the choir of Llandaff Cathedral. As Organ Scholar, he accompanied the choir for all the main Cathedral events, highlights of which included a performance for HRH the Prince of Wales in December 2016, a live broadcast on BBC Radio 4 to an estimated audience of 1.5 million, a performance in the historic Gonville and Caius College Chapel, Cambridge and playing the part of Judas in Llandaff Choral Societies’ Performance of Bach St Matthew Passion. Joseph was also the Choral Scholar at Nazareth House Chapel, Cardiff and is currently a Choral Scholar with the BBC National chorus of Wales, where he has performed works including; Handel’s Messiah, Daphnis and Chloe (Ravel), Belshazzar’s Feast (Walton), Bruckner’s Four Motets and Bach St John’s Passion. At the start of 2017, he was appointed Principle Accompanist of Cardiff Arms Park Male Voice Choir, Accompanist for the Welsh Musical Theatre Orchestra, Cor Caerdydd and was a Semi-finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary Award, a prestigious competition for young singers. He was also honoured to be selected as the official page-turner for the Cardiff Singer of the World Song Prize Final 2017. Joseph began his choral training at St. David's Church Choir, Neath, as a young treble aged just 9. Continuing his training there as a Tenor, he gained the coveted Royal School of Church Music Bronze and Silver Awards and was awarded the position of Area Consultant for the Royal School of Church Music for South East Wales. Through his work with the choir he sang in three BBC Radio Wales Celebration Recordings and performed with the choir on BBC 1’s ‘Katherine Jenkins: A Girl From Neath.’ Joseph has been a member of the Welsh choir, 'Only Boys Aloud' since its creation in 2010 by Tim Rhys-Evans. Highlights include: placing 3rd in Britain’s Got Talent 2012, performing for the Queen and Royal Family in the grounds of Buckingham Palace for the Coronation Festival 2013 and performing at the Royal Opening of the Senedd in 2015, for the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. As a soloist with the choir, he performed for HRH Prince Andrew at the Welsh Mental Health Arts Festival and sang with the choir on their best-selling album ‘Only Boys Aloud’, as well as Jonathan & Charlotte’s album ‘Together’ and Only Men Aloud’s Christmas album ‘In Festive Mood’. Joseph has performed on a variety of television programmes with the choir, including; the Only Boys Aloud documentary series, Highlights of the Coronation Festival Concert on BBC One, BBC Songs Of Praise, Blue Peter and Stepping Out with Katherine Jenkins. In 2014 and again in 2016 he gained a place in the prestigious ‘Principality Only Boys Aloud Academy’, a week’s intensive choral music course held in Atlantic College combing an intensive programme of choral, general musicianship and movement workshops, with mentoring from industry professionals including, Ruth Jones (Gaving & Stacey) and choreographer Jonathan Butterell (West End & Broadway Director). As a soloist, Joseph has sung with Only Boys Aloud and its Academy, Neath Male Voice Choir, Pelenna Male Voice Choir and during Easter 2017, played the part of Judas in Llandaff Choral Societies’ performance of Bach’s St Matthew Passion.   Joseph has a wealth of accompanying and orchestral experience. He is Principal accompanist of Cardiff Arms Male Voice Choir, associate accompanist of Neath Male Voice Choir, principle pianist for Class Act Musical Theatre School and principal Pianist for the Six Counties Big Band. For 5 years he was principle accompanist of Neath Polyphonic Choir and was the accompanist for Neath Port Talbot College Big Band and its Orchestra, alongside his studies. Joseph has also accompanied nationally renowned soloists and instrumentalists alike including; James Mainwaring (West End Musician), Angharad Morgan, Richard Allen, and Laura Armstrong and also has a wealth of musical theatre experience, as principle pianist for shows including; ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, ‘One Night up West’ (excerpts from Matilda, Children of Eden, Dogfight, Les Miserables, Whistle Down the Wind), ‘The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Oliver’, ‘Gypsy’ and ‘The Wizard Of Oz’. In 2018 he will perform as Lead Pianist in ‘Whistle Down The Wind.’   Joseph is honoured to be supported on his professional journey by Pelenna Male Voice Choir's Bursary Award for Talented Musicians, Neath Port Talbot College's Cultural Scholarship Award, the St Elli Masonic Lodge Bursary Award and by Cerith Owens and Andy Pike at Loud Applause Rising Stars, of which Joseph was made a member in Autumn 2016.
