Jonny Smith

From the young age of 7, Jonathan was appointed as a chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral under the direction of John Scott. He was part of many cd recordings, television and radio broadcasts such as the Queen’s Jubilee, the Queen Mothers Memorial Service and The Proms in 2004; he also travelled to different parts of America on tour. After Leaving St Paul’s he gained a music scholarship to Haileybury College to study singing with Simon Berridge. He joined the Award winning Chamber choir and became head chorister of the Chapel Choir. As well as Classical and Choral Performance, Jonathan also sang a lot of Musical Theatre at school; singing lead roles in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Oliver and My Fair Lady. Outside of School he was involved with Rare Productions Youth Theatre Group; singing lead roles in Les Miserables and Summer Holiday. He soon gained a Choral Scholarship to Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where he has just graduated with a 2:1, studying with Omar Ebrahim whilst singing in the naval college Chapel Choir under Ralph Allwood, where he was awarded a Dame Susan Morden Scholarship in 2012. He has been a Part of Rossini’s Cenerentola with Bury Court Opera and has been a soloist for Bach’s St John Passion and B minor mass. He later joined puzzle piece opera, playing Zuniga in Carmen, Leporello in Don Giovanni and Don Alfonso in Cosi fan Tutte and was awarded the Alan J Kirby prize for conducting in 2013. Jonathan also deps at St Paul’s Cathedral, Temple, Southwark Cathedral and St Bartholomew the great, Smithfield. Outside of his classical career, Jonathan has a passion for jazz and loves to write and arrange for himself, friends and small ensembles including a current project of 6 children’s jazz songs about world peace. Now graduated, Jonathan is a singing teacher, session keys player and music director for a youth drama group based all around Hertfordshire. He Was employed by the entertainment agency AP Productions in 2014 and performing regularly around London and Hertfordshire. More recently he has been session keys player for an up and coming band called Club Drive, touring the country and playing at festivals around the Uk
