Jonathan Lee is currently the musical director of the "Noël and Gertie" UK Tour. He has performed at prestigious venues including the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre, the Arts Club and Wigmore Hall. He was invited to make his debut as musical director of an opera, “The Choker”, by Jude Alderson and Steven Edis at the Tête à Tête Opera Festival 2014. He made his symphonic debut conducting Bernstein's West Side Story Symphonic Dances for the Mackintosh Foundation at Milton Court Concert Hall. He has been the repetiteur/pit player for the last three musicals at Guildhall: “Rags” (2013) and “Grand Hotel” (2014) under the musical direction of Steven Edis, and “Guys and Dolls” (2015), under the musical direction of Michael Haslam. He was the assistant musical director for "Così fan tutte" at Dulwich Opera (2016), under the musical direction of Kelvin Lim and has returned briefly as repetiteur for "Don Giovanni" at Dulwich Opera. He accompanied Guildhall student actors in a musical theatre masterclass, headed by Clive Rowe and recorded music for a restored silent film, "A Couple of Down and Outs" (1923) at Abbey Road Studios, a project for BFI.
He studied the piano with Caroline Palmer and Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Since his first year at Guildhall, he has been supported by the Guildhall School Trust. He previously studied with Patsy Toh and Ilana Davids at the Purcell School, as well as the art of the repetiteur with Ian McMillan. He played in the 2011 Investiture Ceremony conducted by HRH The Prince of Wales (recipients included David Suchet, Howard Goodall) and visited St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle as part of the Purcell School Chamber Choir.
