Jonathan Ferrucci studied piano and composition at the L. Cherubini Conservatoire of Music in Florence under the guidance of Giuseppe Fricelli. He obtained his piano diploma in 2014 with maximum marks cum laude. From the age of 11 he studied for ten years with Giovanni Carmassi, first at the Conservatorium of Florence, then at the Stefano Strata Academy in Pisa. He is currently a student of Joan Havill at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. He has attended Master Classes held by Angela Hewitt, Aldo Ciccolini, Bruno Canino, and also Christian Zacharias, Dimitri Bashkirov and Robert Levin when he was one of the 12 pianists selected to take part in the Emil Gilels International Festival at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg. He has performed both in Italy and abroad: in Florence at the Bargello National Museum, the National Library, the Stibbert Museum, the French Institute, Villa la Pietra (New York University), Villa Bardini, at the Società Umanitaria in Milano, and in July 2015, in Umbria at the Anteprima of Angela Hewitt’s Trasimeno Music Festival; in Denmark at the Musik Huset in Ahrus, in Budapest at the B. Bartòk Conservatorium and at the Millenaris Art Centre; and in Yokohama and Tokyo, Japan. In 2015 he performed in Sydney at the Italian Institute of Culture and St. Andrew’s College (Sydney University) and in Newcastle, Australia, at the Newcastle Art Gallery with conductor David Banney and the Newcastle Strings. Besides performing as a soloist, Jonathan has played in several chamber ensembles (particuarly with pianist Giulia Grassi and violinist Daria Nechaeva) and as a soloist with orchestras (Bach D minor concerto, Mozart Concerti K 246, K 595 and Chopin Concerto n. 2 with Paolo Ponziano Ciardi and the Florence Conservatoire Orchestra). In 2015 he was accepted at both the Royal Academy of Music and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Now at the Guildhall, he is supported generously by a scholarship from the Leverhulme Trust. In 2015, together with Giulia Grassi and Silvia Stoppani, Jonathan Ferrucci founded Made in Music, a non profit organisation that aims to create opportunities for young artists around the world. In August 2015 Made in Music organised the Lizzano Music Festival in which Jonathan performed as a soloist and in chamber groups. Currently, within Made in Music, Jonathan Ferrucci is one the Artistic Directors of Armonie – Festival in Movimento, a music festival that will be held in August and September 2016 in central Italy. This festival will bring together young musicians from eight different countries for seven concerts that will be presented in some of the most culturally and historically renowned venues of Italy. Jonathan currently teaches piano at the Hindhead Music Centre. He finds that teaching is an essential aspect of his learning journey, and learns from every lesson he gives.
