Jonathan Ellis

A graduate and postgraduate of the RNCM and Manchester University, Jonathan studied with John Gough and John Wilson. He is currently known as one of the foremost accompanists and repetiteurs in the NW of England, but also works as a solo pianist and chamber musician. He is a multiple prize winner at music festivals and the Buxton Festival Fringe, in the latter of which he has won awards for Best Solo Musician (twice), Best Chamber Ensemble (with his ensemble the "Ryebank Trio") and Best Small Theatre Group (with Opera Seria, conducting a performance of Mozart's "Don Giovanni" from the piano.) Upcoming performances at the time of writing include Liszt's 1st Concerto in E flat (also with the Gorton Philharmonic), in October 2026: and, from May to August 2026, several performances of Puccini's "Tosca" on tour with Flat Pack Music (two of them self-conducted from the piano with only piano accompaniment: two with small ensemble conducted by Ben Ellin), plus various performances with Bury Choral and City of Manchester Opera. He is also a staff accompanist, coach and piano teacher at Xaverian College, Manchester.
