Based in Bath I have been earning my living as a musician playing and teaching guitar since 2002. I have played in all types of function bands across the UK and Europe in many band settings including jazz & blues groups, pit orchestras for musicals, and as a solo guitar player at all types of events. My main work is as a solo guitarist at weddings where I average around 15 weddings annually. I also play at other events and celebrations including birthdays, corporate events, hotels & restaurants and any occasion that needs live music. We hired Johnny for the ceremony and drinks reception at our wedding in August 2021 and could not have been happier with him. Many of the guests commented on the exceptional standard of his performance, including some who themselves play the guitar. He went to the effort of learning an entirely new classical piece to accompany my brother singing during the ceremony and also accompanied him to a jazz piece (which he was already familiar with). His pre-event communication was excellent and he sent us demos of the songs for my brother to practice to weeks before the event in preparation. He also liaised with my brother directly for voice recordings and arranged a rehearsal with him on the day. Overall, he provided a service that went above and beyond our expectations. He is a very eclectic musician - playing classical, spanish, bossa nova, jazz and contemporary pop appropriate for a relaxed musical ambience. He was reliable and is extremely talented. I would highly recommend him and suggest you take a look at the demos of him on this page and on YouTube.

Wedding ceremony

This includes 30-minutes of music when guests arrive before the ceremony, as the Bride makes their entrance, during the signing of the register, as guests leave. I can arrange most music for solo guitar and am open to requests particularly for the Bridal entrance,

Two performances of background music up to 50 mins each during your drinks reception as your guests mingle and enjoy a drink available for weddings, birthdays or any live occasion.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Timings can booked with flexibility (eg two 45-minute sets between 2pm and 5pm). If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know and I'll aim to be flexible. If there are significant changes I may need to re-write the contract so both parties know what to expect. This is relatively quick and easy to do.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes I can provide background music between sets. If you want to supply an iPod / mp3 player that's no problem. I will bring the necessary cables etc.

How much time do you need to set up?

I can set up in 10 minutes. I will drive to the venue so please let me know if loading is an issue - eg parking restrictions, lots of stairs.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes of course. There is a selection of well known and regularly requested songs that I have put together

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I will need access to power (standard 13 amp domestic socket) and a chair without arms. I can bring a chair if this is a problem just let me know. I bring all my own equipment otherwise.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I can arrange most music for solo guitar. I have arranged many popular songs for weddings. If it's an obscure piece or if sheet music isn't easily available there will be a small charge for this depending on the song.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

A range of Classical, Spanish, Jazz and Popular music makes a great range of background music. Friendly, smart and punctual.
