I have been to so many special ceremonies which have been compromised by the poor standard of music. My mission, should you choose to accept this, is to ensure this does not happen at yours! Now based in the south west but happy to travel. Organist and choirmaster. It gives me great delight to provide a bespoke service for you. I enjoy working with you to ensure you get the musical experience that will enhance your ceremony. I like to meet clients at the venue to explore possibilities and limitations of the venue. It’s very important to me that we get everything just right. I can also provide singers and an excellent bagpiper!

John was absolutely brilliant. Great communication, and he played beautifully at our wedding, swapping between piano and organ for the hymns. He also accompanied my uncle on cello when I walked down the aisle, and raised the roof with crown imperial on the organ for the recessional. Cannot recommend highly enough!

John has been fantastic through-out the whole process. From assisting in planning hymns and music and coming up with suggestions, reviewing our order of service drafting for feedback, attending a run-through of the ceremony the day before and then of course on the big day. I have known John Young as a talented organist and Director of Music for many years. The standard of his organ playing is outstanding, such that many parishioners remain seated at the end of a service to enjoy and applaud the recessional. John played for our wedding 40 years ago and, more recently, at several family funerals (by prior request!). Whether he is at the console of the parish church organ or that of a more limited rural instrument his playing is full of dignity or utter joy as the occasion requires. With his vast experience and knowledge of music, he can offer advice on the choice of suitable music with empathy and with gentle good humour. You can rest assured that the musical aspect of your service or event will be in very capable hands. I cannot recommend John Young highly enough.
