In the heart of the vibrant Kent music scene emerges Joe and the Beat, a dynamic duo that’s captivating audiences with their interpretations of favourite classic tunes. David, hailing from picturesque New Zealand, brings a soulful voice, complemented by his acoustic guitar. Beside him, Kevin, a native of Kent, infuses each song with infectious toe-tapping rhythm. Both have extensive experience playing in bands over the past 20 years. Their diverse repertoire spans genres and eras, inviting listeners on a journey through the classics with a fresh twist. Covering genres from soul and Motown to disco, classic pop rock to modern indie hits, their renditions have a unique flair that's all their own. “It feels really good to see an audience respond to our sound”, says David. “We enjoy merging together different songs, putting our own spin on tunes we all know and love” says Kevin. Whether providing a mellow background to a wedding reception or energising a crowded pub, Joe and the Beat delivers a show that's not just heard, but felt.

Joe and the Beat have played a couple of times for the Horseshoes pub and never disappoint, they can provide a chilled background vibe when customers are dining but then fill the dance floor as the night goes on. Highly recommended.

Joe and the Beat played our outdoor wedding in summer. They provided music for the drink’s reception and later i to the evening, playing more energetic music which got everyone dancing. They were brilliant to work with and really wanted to make sure the music was to our taste. They even learned my favourite song for our first dance. All the guests loved it and many commented on how good the music was. Would highly recommend!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients love our versatility. Whether it is a laid back acoustic vibe or filling the dance floor with upbeat tunes, we can cover all the bases.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have performed at a wide range of venues, from weddings to pubs to outdoor food festivals and farmer’s markets.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We are lovers of all styles of music but particularly love, soul Motown, funk, pop, rock and folk.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Most recently, we played at the Canterbury Food Festival to an audience of several hundred. It was a lovely day and we had great participation from the crowd.

Do you have different line-up options?

We are a duo with vocals, acoustic guitar and drums. David, our singer/guitarist can also perform solo.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we actually offer this service for free. If you'd like a DJ service via our PA after the final set until the venue closes, we provide this for an additional £100

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about 1 hour before the performance time. As soon as our PA is set up we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance!

Can you roam around while you perform?

As we have drums, we perform from a fixed spot or stage

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We really want to work with our clients to ensure the music choice and vibe is what you are after. Whether it be chilled out background music or dance floor fillers (or both) we will adapt to your event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We have a top-of the line PA system and all PA and lighting is included in your quote

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you.
