Joe is a singer, musician, composer and actor from Devon, currently studying as a baritone at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. As a chorister at Exeter Cathedral from 2005, Joe has had opportunities to sing choral music throughout the U.K and overseas. In 2012 he was awarded the Mike Ball Shield from the Royal School of Church Music for an outstanding contribution and under the guidance of singing tutor Cathrine Davies, Joe completed ABRSM Grade 8 and an LCM Diploma in Singing Performance, joining The National Youth Choir of Great Britain in 2012. This has subsequently lead to recording and broadcast opportunities with the BBC, Audio Network, Delphian, and Signum Records. Highlights have included Monteverdi’s Vespers (Royal Albert Hall, 2012), and Beethoven 9 (Royal Festival Hall, 2015), with the London Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Christoph von Dohnányi. Alongside training at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama under David Pollard, Joe has appeared opposite Kylie Minogue in A Kylie Christmas (Royal Albert Hall, Sky Arts, 2015), in An Evening on Broadway (Milton Court Theatre, 2016), and together with Maria Kesselman in A West End Christmas (The Actors Church, Covent Garden, 2016). Recently, Joe has played the roles of Attilio and Corto in the new musical Mascherato (Milton Court Theatre, 2017), by composer Michael Elderkin and appeared in Gershwin’s Crazy for You (Silk Street Theatre, Guildhall) directed by Martin Conor. Whilst at Guildhall, Joe has had opportunities to work in a wide range of masterclasses and workshops, notably with Sarah Walker and Physical Theatre Company Frantic Assembly. Joe is delighted to be able to support The Wind-Up Penguin Theatre Company, in its work with refugee children in Germany & Belgium (2016) and Greece (2017). Upcoming engagements include The Magic Flute (Vivo D’Arte, Frogmoor Paper Mill), dir. John Ramster & Audrey Hyland, and the release of the short film Seeking (dir. Sam Philips). Joe would particularly like to thank the Really Useful Group and Eleemosynary Trust for their support.
