Joanna is currently a Bachelor of Music cello student at Edinburgh Napier University, open to performance opportunities of various genres.

Joanna is a keen musician with a diverse musical background, interested in performing and exploring a variety of styles either as soloist or collaborator. Though primarily a cellist, early training in piano and violin (later viola) has given her a broad range of musical experience, particularly in classical and folk idioms, from community chamber/ensemble projects to piano duets. Engagements have included playing at weddings as part of a string quartet, in addition to performing with celidh bands at local functions. Her highlights over the years have ranged from successes in solo violin, cello and piano at the Fife Festival of Music, as well as in her school orchestra, choir and folk group (which toured in Germany in 2012). In 2011 she began arranging and performing scottish and trad. folk music (fiddle and voice) with two fellow violin students which have led to participations in open mics (e.g. Perthshire Angus, Cambridge Folk Festival and Eden Festival) and recording an EP. As an avid orchestral player, she has also benefitted from engagements with Fife Youth Orchestra, Dundee Symphony Orchestra, University of St Andrew's Baroque Orchestra and the Senior/Symphony orchestras of NYOS. In August 2016, she will make her BBC Prom debut as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland. Since beginning her music degree at Edinburgh Napier University, Joanna has been involved in an assortment of ensembles, particularly as part of new compositions by Napier Pop and Classical students, as well as a collaborative telematic music/dance project between the university and partners in Liverpool and the US. Joanna currently receives cello tuition under the guidance of Robin Mason, as well as organ and choral training from Brigitte Harris at St Andrews' and St George's West. Her first year has seen Joanna excel in all her music modules and mature as a working musician- she looks forward to what the rest of her degree may bring! Joanna offers tuition in strings and piano and seeks performance engagements of all forms.
