Jessica Wu

Jessica Wu is a London-based concert pianist whose performances invite audiences into reflective listening and a shared inner experience within the classical piano repertoire, presented internationally across Europe and Asia. Grounded in the classical piano tradition, Jessica’s performances are shaped by emotional depth and narrative expression, reflecting a belief that music is not only something to be presented, but something to be shared and experienced by the audience. Born in Hong Kong, Jessica began her musical training at the age of 3 and later pursued advanced piano studies in the United Kingdom. She holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she studied with Prof. Mikhail Kazakevich. To further develop her artistry, she continues to attend lessons and masterclasses internationally, working with distinguished pianists and pedagogues including Prof. Julian Jacobson, Prof. Pascal Rogé, Prof. Pablo Galdo, and Olga Jegunova. Jessica’s repertoire focuses largely on the Classical and Romantic eras, with a particular passion for inward, reflective works that invite depth and quiet intensity. Drawing from a background in dance, she is also drawn to music shaped by movement and rhythm, including dance-inspired works and Baroque dance repertoire. Having performed across London, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Jessica has appeared in recital series, churches, and cultural venues. Her programmes explore a wide range of musical colour, emotional contrast, and expressive character. Alongside solo performance, she is active as a collaborative pianist, regularly working with singers, instrumentalists, and choirs. She also has experience in improvisation, which informs her responsiveness and flexibility in both ensemble and solo contexts. Jessica previously completed a Bachelor of Laws degree, before choosing to pursue music full-time as an honest response to a lifelong musical passion. This same honesty extends into her playing, where performance becomes not only an act of precision, but an open inner dialogue that invites audiences to engage sincerely with their own emotional responses to the music. Guided by this perspective, Jessica approaches concerts as spaces for personal engagement rather than passive reception. Alongside traditional concert settings, this has led her to perform in non-traditional contexts where music takes on a more intimate role. This includes solo piano recitals in hospital environments, such as cancer hospitals, where music serves as a source of quiet encouragement, offering moments of calm and reflection for patients, families, and healthcare staff. This approach was further reflected in the Hong Kong Fire Relief Fundraising Concert Series, a two-part project Jessica initiated in response to a major fire incident in Hong Kong. Conceived as a space for shared listening and quiet remembrance, the concerts allowed sorrow to be held with gentleness, offering comfort and a sense of healing that transcended the need for words. Beyond the concert stage, Jessica currently serves as Director of Music at a Church of England parish church. In this role, she works closely with the church choir and community through piano, organ playing, and choral conducting, and is increasingly involved in organising musical events and exploring music projects within the local community. Jessica is currently expanding her recital portfolio and preparing new performance projects with an international outlook. She is based in London but regularly travels to Asia for artistic projects and performances.
