About Jerome

Played trombone for a broad range of music for 28 years now. I can sight-read, blow, sing bv's, play keys, drums, percussion and DJ.
Trombonist
London
Public liability insurance of £5 million

Born in Brooklyn, raised in Texas, I live in London with my family and have done for almost fifteen years. I've been playing professionally and operating as a band leader since my teens on my primary instrument, trombone and currently, I specialise in brass. At the beginning of my career, I studied music at St. Mary's University in San Antonio Texas and A&M University- KIngsville, TX. I then worked as a musician on luxury cruise ships for some years which was fundamental in broadening my world view and allowing me to become self sufficient as a creative professional. Won a Latin Grammy for music written and recorded on Mexican pop star Alicia Villarreal’s album. From 2003 - 2006 I was touring globally with Youngblood Brass Band and other acts and in 2007 I moved to the UK. The following year, I established my band Brassroots and began to gig and play the UK and EU Festival circuit. Performance highlights include playing WOMAD, Caceres to an audience of 40,000, Disco Bar Galaxy, Belgium to an audience of 60,000 and selling out Ronnie Scotts on a double bill. Brassroots has also enjoyed some phenomenal success in the charts with the self produced / self released album Black Eye Friday - the EP Good Life has been licenced all over the world including by Giles Peterson, was No.1 in NZ and Black Eye Friday (title track) was used on the FA Cup Finals. Both the album and the EP saw multiple re-presses. Other career highlights include, being selected as the house band for the season finale of Celebrity Ultimate Big Brother on C4 and being chosen as the official representative of the UK Department of International Commerce at the 2017 World Expo in Astana, Kazakhstan. I was the MD for Martha Reeves and The Vandellas for 3 years. I’ve written, recorded and\or performed and produced for Rudimental, John Newman, Elle Eyre, Laura Mvula, Snarky Puppy, Eddie Floyd, Duke Dumont and countless others. I'm particularly adept at fixing specialised and specific bands for special events. I have an incredibly extensive network of musicians I work with affording me the ability to not only be extremely flexible but resourceful and intuitive. I can arrange almost any type of musical ensemble to suit your specific needs. I'm also an extremely talented and well seasoned MC. I have hosted events in over 80 countries.

Dear Jerome and the rest of Brassroots, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! You guys killed it! You were the perfect band for our wedding party! All of our friends and family have been raving to us nonstop about how amazing you guys were. Everyone loved it so much! You have helped set the bar VERY high for the next couple weeks of weddings a lot of us are going to. Thanks again for suggesting and having me up to play as well. I loved joining you guys and it was a nice surprise for a lot of guests to see me play with you. It occurred to me when you guys were playing “Dang” by Mac Miller that I had a missed opportunity to play “What’s The Use” while we were getting the bass into the PA at the start of the second set. Oh well! Thank you for being so clear, helpful and friendly in all our communication and organisation leading up to the day as well. The whole process was an absolute dream and completely stress free! You guys sound amazing and are such fantastic people. We wish you all the best and will hopefully cross paths again at some point!
