About Ben Martin Saxophonist

An outstanding saxophonist playing the best of Jazz, Latin, Soul, Reggae and Classic Pop. A sophisticated and elegant musical experience.
Saxophonist
Nottingham
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Hiring Ben is a great way to get the sound of a band but with only one musician. He has been acclaimed by Guardian Jazz critic John Fordham as a saxophonist of immaculate taste and lyricism and has been performing all over the world for over 30 years. What Ben brings to your event is a relaxed and sophisticated musical experience, an elegant and mature ambience for the more discerning client. He has vast experience of playing weddings, corporate events, parties, crusies, funerals and more. He even played an event for Sir Paul McCartney who was so impressed he jumped on stage and performed a few songs with him. Ben has played many festivals including North Sea Jazz Festival, Brecon Jazz Festival, London EFG and world famous jazz clubs such as Ronnie Scott's in Soho and Smalls in New York. Previous clients include Sir Paul McCartney, BBC, ITV, Channel Four, Fairfax & Favor, P&O, National Express, Burghley Horse Trials, The Game Fair, Grosvenor House Hotel. Ben performs jazz on his beautiful 1950s Selmer tenor saxophone and pop on his 1930s Selmer alto saxophone. He uses exceptionally high quality backing tracks played by the cream of British and American musicians and recorded in a world class studio. Using a portable battery powered pa system means he can play just about anywhere and moving between from outdoors to indoors is no problem. Perfect for a ceremony or drinks reception or if space and budget are tight. Ben plays a wide range of music including Classic Jazz from the 1940s, 50s and 60s by Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald, Rock 'n' Roll, Soul by Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and Bill Withers, Reggae and Pop songs from over the years by Adele, Bruno Mars, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Tom Jones and many many more. Ben is guaranteed to add that something special to your wedding, party or corporate event.

One of the best parts of my Wedding!! I am so pleased we booked Ben Martin to play Sax at our Wedding. He created the exact feel that I wanted. Ben played during our Evening Reception, after Dinner and before the DJ. I wanted the three sets to start fairly chilled and then get more lively as the night went on. Everyone loved it and could either chill and listen to him play, or get up and dance. Ben was also really great in the lead up. He was communicative, helpful and happy to contact my Venue directly to co-ordinate the day. On the day, he was perfect. We were so happy and immediately wanted to book another Wedding or event so that we can book him again!!! I cannot recommend enough!!

2 years ago, for a Birthday party in Nottingham

I'm a big jazz fan and have seen Ben play many times in and around Nottingham. I really wanted him and his band to play for my birthday at my house but due to lack of space even a duo would have been a bit tight. Ben suggested he could play with backing tracks which I wasn't too sure about at first but he sent me some videos and I was amazed at how good it sounded. It really made the party a bit different. Definitely reccomended. Pete

Ben's band were already playing for our evening do so we had him play for the drinks reception and through dinner. It was much nicer than just having ipod music
