Janna's Song list
Repertoire includes many well-known as well as lesser known Classical, Baroque and Modern pieces - and more unusually - some traditional Cretan Folk repertoire. I am constantly adding new pieces and songs to my current repertoire.

Customer questions
Do you have different line-up options?
I happily perform on my own for that pure, haunting cello sound, but also regularly play or sing either with a pianist and / or with other strings - either a trio or quartet. We are flexible and aim to find the best solution for your event.
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
I will do my best to fit in with your timings as much as possible and usually will be able to accommodate some minor changes right up to the day.
How much time do you need to set up?
As I perform acoustically (without PA) my set-up time is very short - only 5 to 10 minutes.
Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?
Certainly. Usually though it will be a mix of carefully discussed and chosen pieces and others of a similar style / genre to fill in the gaps. How much input you choose to have is largely up to you.
Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?
Yes, I will bring everything I need - apart from a chair without armrests which I will ask you to provide.
Can you learn specific pieces before the event?
Certainly! Over the years I have arranged and performed many songs and pieces that my clients have asked for specifically. Depending on the level of work involved for each of these, this will usually be limited to 2 - 4 pieces per performance / event. However, for cello solo performances this number can be considerably higher. Let's discuss tunes!
What do your clients love most about your performances?
Previous clients have remarked on the richness and beauty of my tone, my musical playing etc, but perhaps above all they have noticed the sheer pleasure, joy and love I have for my music.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
Over the years I have performed as soloist, ensemble player or orchestral player in many venues as varied as concert halls, churches, pubs, gardens, halls, private houses and even a teddy-bear shop throughout Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Wiltshire and Bath. Two of my favourites are The Guildhall in Bath and the beautiful church in Dartington, Devon.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
As a singer I have benefited above all from the wealth of knowledge of Mollie Petrie, Bristol. As a cellist, I adore Natalie Clein amongst others. But I learn from all sorts of musicians I meet and play with - it's an exciting journey!
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
I have played for a few Military Wives concert, both on cello and on violin. Playing a bit of solo violin to an audience of about 700 people was wonderful and not something I thought I'd ever do. But I love standing on a big stage, and usually do that as a soprano soloist.
