James & James are a jazz duo based in Kent. Having met at a jazz jam in Canterbury, James and James started playing together in 2016 and have performed at various events around Kent. By combining Anne James’ mellow, expressive vocals and flute-playing with James Taylor’s virtuoso piano arrangements, jazz and blues duo James and James produce a sound that is both warm and cool. James and James are no dilettantes: they live and breathe music. As a Guildhall-trained music therapist, Anne James knows better than most that music is far more than just entertainment or ‘ear candy’: it can change lives for the better. As for James Taylor, he is not just an accomplished pianist with nearly two decades’ experience as a professional musician: he has been playing, listening to and even composing music for almost as long as he can remember. It is an integral part of his life. This love of music shows through in every song that James and James perform. With a repertoire ranging from reflective ballads to upbeat swing, they are a superb duo for all occasions.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

Our line-up is as follows: Vocals, Keyboard/Piano or Vocals, Guitar. We could arrange for another instrumentalist to join us, for example a saxophonist.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

“We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.”

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we actually offer this service for free.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance time. As soon as our PA is set up we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance!

Can you roam around while you perform?

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We would definitely be happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

PA is included in your quote. We usually require a minimum of 2 by 3 metres to perform.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

“If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc. ”
