About James

I am a guitarist, bassist and backing vocalist looking for function work or for collaboration work with producers or other musicians.

I began learning to play the guitar at 9 years old. Since then, I have gone on too complete the RockSchool grading syllabus, achieving my Grade 8 award with distinction in 2016. I have also recently completed my degree in Popular Music Performance from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. I have a good amount of live performance experience including playing in swing bands and rock ensembles, to name a few. My influences as a guitarist include Gary Moore, Jeff Beck, George Benson, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour and Phil Collen. This list has extended over my many years of playing guitar which has made me very comfortable playing in many genres and styles. I am currently working hard on releasing original material as part of the band "Friend Street". I have worked with singer-songwriter Zac Barrow on the writing and recording of his debut single "Scream Queen", available to be listened to on Spotify.

I'm John Drummond and I run a couple of open mics and I'm the Musical Director for local charity the Redbridge Music Lounge. I've known James a couple of years now and would say that he is a very talented young man who cuts a striking figure at the open mic. Extremely well prepared and gifted on electric lead guitar, he can play acoustic and can really get an audience going with the songs he sings. He's very reliable and highly capable on PA equipment as well.

James is an extremely skilled guitarist. On New Years Eve, he performed a huge range of classics in which he was consistent and strong throughout. From Start Me Up to Purple Rain's insane solo, James performed with a great love and passion and really worked the audience. It was very enjoyable to watch him play as he was strong in all aspects of it, great guitarist with a great attitude for performing.
