About James

London-based pianist, organist and singer | composer, arranger and teacher.
Pianist
London

I am a musician (piano, organ, voice, conducting) and poet, based in London, having been an Organ Scholar at Cambridge. Although I specialise in classical and jazz, I enjoy playing all styles of music and have played and conducted in orchestras and choirs in Cambridge and London. I am keen to explore as much of music as possible and to share this delight with as many people as possible. I would love to provide music for whatever event you need and look forward to hearing from you! Competencies: sightreading, improvisation, transposition, score-reading

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

My ability to create the right atmosphere and to entertain

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Churches and bars

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

The list is endless, everything from Bach to Bowie and Williams to Wonder.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I have yet to perform a truly high profile gig.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Just contact me and we can rearrange, the sooner, the more likely I am to be free.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely, this is included within the price. A DJ set would incur an additional £100 cost, however, depending on length, this price is open to negotiation.

How much time do you need to set up?

Approximately one hour before the performance time. It ultimately depends on what service you require.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Completely! Moreover, you can tell me specific pieces you would like and, if they are not on the set list (which is a brief example of my repertoire), I shall learn them.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I can bring an electric keyboard, but general request the piano/organ to be at the venue (for obvious reasons)

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Definitely – see above. This is done free of charge.
