I went to a gig to see these guys played exactly 7 months ago (March 9th), and what I saw were an electric and powerful performance where a range of styles, flavours were displayed onstage, but the energy and atmosphere remained consistently high throughout. I would definitely recommend any considering booking the Band for any occasion, and they deliver a very versatile and high quality performance.

Had a smashing time at the Impossible Manchester! NGUVU (aka Major 6s) were performing live. I do love a live gig! Drums, vocals, guitars the works, really do get me on the dance floor. NGUVU were brilliant! They had the full shebang including a sax player! What band do you know with a sax player?! They performed their own tunes and well as a good few classics every one knows and can sing along too. They even invited me up on the stage to sing along with them! Fancy that?! If your up for a good time and love funk/soul then I highly recommend NGUVU/Major 6s live, you will not be disappointed- I wasn't! Hats off to them! Nya.

From other musicians:

I supported Jamal's band 'NGUVU' at Soup Kitchen back July 2019 with my band 'Liquid Beach'. We were just starting out as a live act and relished in the opportunity to support such a renowned Manchester funk band; Jamal is a great ambassador for grass-roots music. I've always had massive respect for drummers who sing and rap, and Jamal is no exception. He leads with metronomic accuracy behind the kit whilst delivering quick-fire bars to compliment the tight groove of the other band members. The funk scene in Manchester has many rich offerings, but Jamal and NGUVU are a cut above! You'll never find anyone who's as committed as Jamal to delivering GOOD music to Manchester.
