My musical journey began at a young age, as I developed an early affinity for the classics and a deep appreciation for the Romantic era. Works by Mozart, Chopin, and Scott Joplin quickly expanded my repertoire, introducing me to a rich tapestry of compositions. I found myself naturally excelling in memorisation, intricate fingerwork, and performance stamina. Some of my earliest showpieces included Joplin’s iconic rags and Mozart’s Sonata in C major, and this early momentum even drove me to tackle several of Chopin’s demanding études - a foundational effort that would fully come to fruition later in life. My first teacher was pivotal in transforming this raw potential into a confident, fluid playing style, instilling core principles of technique and expression. By age nine, I began my formal examination journey with the ABRSM, earning distinctions in both Grade 2 and Grade 3 performance. This period was crucial for establishing a structured, disciplined practice routine that accelerated my technical growth. Whether performing for family guests at home or on stage at school, I was rapidly developing a distinct performance flair and a genuine comfort in front of an audience. As with many young musicians, adolescence brought a temporary period of burnout. The routine began to feel repetitive, and my progress plateaued. Fortunately, a change in mentorship arrived at precisely the right moment. My next teacher opened a new dimension of musical expression that completely rejuvenated my passion. By exploring the dramatic depths of Rachmaninoff’s famous Prelude in C# minor alongside Chopin’s delicate nocturnes, waltzes, and études, my playing evolved from rigid and tense to relaxed and deeply controlled. This transformative period culminated in a definitive milestone: achieving a high distinction of 94/100 in my Grade 8 Performance exam with Trinity College London. With a rigorous classical foundation secured, I chose to deliberately expand my horizons beyond the written page. To transition from a structured performer into a truly versatile, intuitive musician, I dedicated myself to mastering sight-reading, improvisation, and playing by ear. I began playing regularly for church services, navigating the immediate demands of liturgical music and spontaneous hymn accompaniment. This experience fundamentally transformed my musicianship, teaching me how to think on my feet, adapt to a room, and play with genuine spontaneity. Today, my portfolio spans a diverse range of live settings, from elevating the atmosphere at wedding services to providing liturgical music for Mass (an avenue that has also inspired me to take up the organ). Beyond classical and sacred music, I have enthusiastically embraced jazz and boogie-woogie, deeply enriching my command of the keyboard. Ultimately, my goal is to bring this rich blend of technical precision, stylistic versatility, and passion to your next event, creating an unforgettable musical backdrop tailored perfectly to the occasion.
