Customer questions
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
I'm usually able to be flexible, but obviously as much notice as possible is appreciated, especially if your event is some distance away. If it's a matter of playing for an extra amount of time, I'm always happy to negotiate.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
I don't provide this service normally as I don't bring a sound system, but worth asking in case I can bring one.
How much time do you need to set up?
I normally set up 30-45 minutes before guests arrive, if I'm bringing my own piano. I also need two (strong!) helpers, usually available at the venue, to help move the piano in. If I'm bringing my electronic harpsichord/organ then one extra person is useful but not essential. I always phone the venue ahead of time to make sure I can park close by!
If I have a piano at my venue, are you happy to perform on that?
Yes, providing it is in tune and is used regularly.
Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
Yes, and with a bit of notice I can usually play anything in particular.
Are you able to bring your own piano or keyboard?
Yes, this will be included in the cost.
Can you learn song requests before the event?
Yes - if it's particularly tricky to play I may ask for a small additional fee of £20-£30, but usually this is fine. A week or so's notice is useful for pop songs, 3-4 weeks if it's a particularly difficult classical piece.
What do your clients love most about your performances?
I'm easy to work with, highly professional, and very flexible. I also get feedback for my musicianship, sensitivity and ability as an accompanist, for being able to sight read virtually anything, and choosing exactly the right music for the atmosphere clients want for their event.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
Over 100 churches and wedding venues across the South West, including Babington House, Coombe Lodge (Chew Valley), Wells Town Hall, Bath Assembly Rooms, Bath Guildhall, Bath Pump Rooms, Priston Mill, Grittleton House, Widbrook Grange, Tracy Park, Bridwell Park, and many others.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
This isn't really applicable!
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
Hard to say, but in terms of musical excellence, playing at the Mendelssohnhaus in Leipzig, a cello & piano recital as part of their Mendelssohn Festival in September 2012. In terms of celebrity status, I played for Amanda Holden's wedding at Babington House.
