About Jacqueline Turner

Jacqueline Turner is a upcoming classical crossover soprano, in her fourth year of undergraduate at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music.
Singer (soprano)
Croydon

From a young age Jacqueline found a passion for music in her local church choir. With Ruth Holton she achieved the Associated Board of the Royal Schools Grade 8 singing exam, passing with distinction. She is currently studying the last ABRSM piano grades with Niromi Fernando. Over the years Jacqueline has been a part of many choirs such as St Francis of Assisi West Wickham with Travis Baker and Geoff Mussard, St George’s Church Beckenham with Nigel Groome and Marcus Wibberley, All Saints Church West Dulwich with Ruth Holton and Inner Voices Choir with Edward Watkins and Ralph Allwood. Jacqueline also attended Eton Choral Courses ran and directed by Ralph Allwood. Being part of so many choirs has given Jacqueline the opportunity to sing at venues such as Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, Chichester Cathedral, Ely Cathedral, King’s College Chapel Cambridge, St Martin’s in the Field and many more whilst also being able to tour in Prague and be broadcasted on Classic FM. As well as music, Jacqueline has achieved her Grade 8 RAD ballet exam and attended Stagecoach for 9 years. She has also participated in numerous Croydon and Sutton music festivals. Jacqueline currently studies in Greenwich at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Here, Jacqueline is entering her fourth year of studying under Linda Hirst and also receives vocal coaching under Alistair Young. At Trinity Jacqueline is part of the Undergraduate Choir, which holds an annual performance at Blackheath Halls. Jacqueline had her debut recital in June 2019 ‘Music for a While’ at All Saints Church West Dulwich, followed by another concert in October, 'Music of the Night' which raised over £1,000 for a new audio and visual system at her local church, St Mary of Nazareth. During 2019 Jacqueline also performed at a private inauguration and the ‘Last Night of the Proms’ charity event by the Salvation Army, Croydon. In February 2020 Jacqueline performed her first duet recital with Francesca Lauri a fellow pianist at Trinity in Beckenham, which was a raving success. Due to the pandemic the rest of Jacqueline's concerts for 2020 have been cancelled. But this hasn’t stopped Jacqueline. She performed her first virtual live concert in May and raised £800 for NHS Charities Together! Since returning to the norm of life, Jacqueline has performed as a soloist alongside the London Concert Chorus in October 2021. Then Sutton Baptist Church asked Jacqueline to be the headline singer at the Churches’ first Christmas Concert in December, along with an annual performance at the Christian Aid Big Sing at St Francis of Assisi, West Wickham. Starting off January 2022, Jacqueline got into the semi-finals of the Soloist’s Competition at Trinity and came first in her class at the Croydon Performing Arts Music Festival, where she was also asked to perform at their annual Gala at Fairfield Halls this coming June. Jacqueline has recently played the lead role of Semele in Handel's seductive opera, at the National Liberal Club and will play the role Young Barbara in the Trinity Laban Opera at Blackheath Halls this July.

Jacqueline Turner has been a great soprano singer for many years. I recognised a quality voice in a young choir girl around ten years ago and have been privileged to work with her first as choir director in our church and more recently as her accompanist for a number of concerts and events. Her voice has continued to develop and improve through her singing lessons and through her wider music activities as a music student at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. She has worked hard to take part in events to support her church, and much more widely, and has performed in an excellent and professional way in solo concerts with extensive programmes of classical and popular music. She remains ready to try new styles of music, and is a model soloist for any accompanist as, being a competent pianist herself, she is always aware of the songs beyond the notes she has to sing! Her recent online concert in aid of NHS Charities was a perfect example of her determination to sing when obstructions are placed in her way, and to relate what she does to the real and current world. She shows great understanding and discretion in her choices of music for her different audiences, including material from the classical repertoire and various musicals. I wish her well. Geoff Mussard (MD at St. Francis of Assisi Church, St. Mary of Nazareth Church and West Wickham Choir, and former Head of Wandsworth Schools’ Music Service).

Jacqueline Turner sang at my Ordination in September 2019. Jacqueline was exceptionally professional in planning and organizing to sing for me. On the day Jacqueline sang beautifully and left a great impression amongst everyone that attended. I was extremely happy and blessed with her singing, I would definitely call upon Jacqueline to sing again at a celebration and plan on using her for other events in my Church. Thank you Rev Pam Searle

Customer questions

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, Chichester Cathedral, Ely Cathedral, King’s College Chapel Cambridge, St Martin’s in the Field and many more whilst also being able to tour in Prague and be broadcasted on Classic FM.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Unfortunately not.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance time, ideally this will include a soundcheck too.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely! This is your event! I can always make suggestions and let you know if the (classical) song is appropriate, but at the end of the day this is about what you want me to perform.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

This really depends on what type of performance you'd like me to do. Classical or Popular? For classical, there may be an extra fee for a pianist if required. Popular music - I bring my own microphone, backing tracks and PA system. I can also work with a live band you have in mind too!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If a song isn't included in my song list there's still a chance I already know it. If there is a special song you'd like me to learn I'm happy to do this for you. There is a fee small fee of £15 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.
