Studying violin and piano at the City of Edinburgh Music School gave Jack the foundation to build up a versatile range of musical experience. Aside from Music School ensembles Jack was also a choral scholar (tenor) at St Ninian's Parish Church in his final year. Whilst studying at the University of Glasgow he became heavily involved in the university symphony orchestra, The Kelvin Ensemble - a group which he would go on to run in 2014/2015. He also became involved in the Universities of Scotland Symphony Orchestra, becoming part of the management team in 2015 whilst leading the second violin section. Alongside this his involvement in popular music developed, with slots co-hosting the QMU open mic night and winning the University of Glasgow's Got Talent competition in 2013 with an original composition for acoustic guitar and voice. Currently Jack plays with the indie folk bands Northern Central (violin, keyboard, mandolin, voice) and These Wooden Bones (voice, acoustic guitar) however his main music work is teaching violin and performing with the Rosewood String Quartet (violin) and the Veritable Ceilidh Club (acoustic guitar, kick drum, voice and calling).
