Jack was brought up in the Lake District, where he took up the clarinet at a young age. He has also participated in NYO projects and also a European Union Youth Orchestra project in the Proms. Jack has a great love of chamber music and has played the Brahms clarinet quintet with the Berkeley ensemble (a London based professional ensemble), and is currently working on a number of chamber music projects, including Beethoven Septet, Brahms and Mozart clarinet quintets, Dvorak and Mozart and Strauss Wind Serenades and a number of works with Wind Quintet. He is also the founder of the Olympus Clarinet Quintet- a Royal College of Music based group comprising if clarinet and string quartet, playing the great clarinet quintet repertoire such as Brahms and Mozart as well as commissioning new works for the ensemble. As a soloist, Jack was a runner-up in the Keldwyth award, a highly prestigious award for talented musicians in the Lakes, performing a recital of Weber, Mozart and Schumann. With orchestras, Jack has twice performed the Weber Concertino for clarinet and orchestra, first with the QES chamber orchestra and then with the Westmorland Youth Orchestra. Jack is currently studying at RCM with Timothy Lines and Barnaby Robson.
