About Jack Heavenor

Swinging through the Great American Songbook – timeless jazz vocals with style, charm, and a touch of vintage elegance.
Singer
Glasgow
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Jack Heavenor is an active force in Glasgow’s grassroots jazz scene, carving out a reputation as a charismatic vocalist with a deep connection to the Great American Songbook. His rich, expressive voice and engaging stage presence transport audiences to the golden age of swing, drawing inspiration from legends like Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, and Tony Bennett. Whether fronting a quartet or hosting vibrant jazz sessions, Jack’s performances offer an authentic and accessible experience for jazz lovers and newcomers alike. His journey into music began early, performing as part of Scottish Opera’s 2006 production of Carmen as a teenager. However, it wasn’t until a pivotal year in Shanghai in 2016 that Jack fully embraced jazz. There, he immersed himself in the city’s thriving jazz culture, regularly appearing as a guest vocalist at the House of Blues & Jazz. Performing alongside world-class musicians, he gained invaluable experience in live improvisation, stagecraft, and the global reach of jazz music. Returning to the UK in 2018, he dedicated himself to refining his craft, developing a unique style influenced by both his Scottish roots and the international jazz traditions he encountered abroad. Now based in Glasgow, Jack is a key player in the city’s grassroots jazz community. He hosts two regular live jazz events: a Thursday vocal jazz session at the Maverick Bar, providing a welcoming space for emerging and experienced singers to perform with a live band, and a Sunday jazz afternoon at Bossa, where he collaborates with musicians from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and beyond to deliver engaging, high-quality performances. These events have become valued fixtures in the local scene, praised for their inclusivity and ability to introduce new audiences to jazz in an inviting setting. Jack’s versatility as a performer allows him to adapt to various musical settings. Whether performing solo with high-quality backing tracks or leading a live ensemble, he curates dynamic sets that range from smooth ballads to high-energy swing numbers. His latest project, Sunday Swing at Bluedog, sees him fronting a jazz quartet for a lively ticketed show, further expanding his presence in Glasgow’s live music circuit. Beyond performance, Jack is passionate about using music to connect with people on a deeper level. He has recently begun volunteering in care homes, bringing jazz and Rat Pack classics to residents as part of an effort to create joyful, nostalgic musical experiences for older audiences. This work aligns with his broader vision of making jazz accessible to all, ensuring that its timeless appeal reaches people from all walks of life. As he continues to grow as an artist, Jack remains committed to expanding his reach, increasing his performance opportunities, and developing his craft as both a vocalist and a musician. With his dedication to swing, showmanship, and the power of live music, he is fast becoming a leading name in Glasgow’s jazz renaissance.

Jack Heavenor's Song list

Jazz / Swing:
A Foggy Day (in London town)
A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square
A Sunday kind of Love
After you've Gone
Ain't Misbehavin'
Ain't that a kick in the head
All I do is dream of you
All of me
All of you
All the things you are
All the way
Almost like being in love
Angel Eyes
As long as I live
At last
Autumn leaves
Beautiful love
Bei mir bist du schoen
Best things in life are free
Bewitched
Beyond the sea
Blue moon
Blue skies
But not for me
Bye bye blackbird
C'est si bon
Call me irresponsible
Can't help lovin' dat man
Can't we be friends
Cheek to cheek
Cherokee
Come fly with me
Comes love
Cry me a river
Dat dere
Day by day
Days of wine and roses
Devil may care
Dinah
Do nothin' til you hear from me
Dream a little dream of me
East of the sun
Embracable you
Everything happens to me
Exactly like you
Fever
Fly me to the moon
Frim fram sauce
Georgia on my mind
Give me the simple life
Hallelujah I love her so
Have you met Miss Jones
Honeysuckle rose
How about you
How high the moon
I can't believe you're in love with me
I can't give you anything but love
I could write a book
I get a kick out of you
I wish you love
I'll see you in my dreams
I'm beginning to see the light
I'm confessin'
I'm gonna sit right down and write myself a letter
I'm just a lucky so and so
I've got a crush on you
I've got my love to keep me warm
I've got the world on a string
I've got you under my skin
If I had you
In the wee small hours of the morning
It could happen to you
It don't mean a thing
It had to be you
It might as well be spring
It's all right with me
It's only a paper moon
Just friends
Just one of those things
L-O-V-E
La vie en rose
Lady is a tramp
Let there be love
Let's do it (let's fall in love)
Like someone in love
Love me or leave me
Lullaby of birdland
Lullaby of the leaves
Lulu's back in town
Mack the knife
Making whoopee
Misty
Mona life
Moon River
Moonlight in Vermont
More than you know
My funny valentine
My melancholy baby
My romance
My way
The nearness of you
New York, New York
Nice work if you can get it
Night and Day
No moon at all
Oh, Lady be good
Ol man river
Old devil moon
On a slow boat to China
On the street where you live
On the sunny side of the street
Orange coloured sky
Our love is here to stay
Out of nowhere
Pennies from heaven
People will say we're in love
Perdido
Please don't talk about me
Polkadots and moonbeams
Pure imagination
Puttin' on the Ritz
S'wonderful
Satin doll
Scotch and soda
Secret love
September in the rain
The Shadow of your Smile
Smile
Softly as in a morning sunrise
Someday my prince will come
St James infirmary
Star dust
Stella by starlight
Stormy weather
Straighten up and fly right
Strangers in the night
Summer wind
Summertime
Sweet georgia brown
Sweet Sue, just you
Tea for two
Teach me tonight
That old black magic
That's amore
That's life
Them there eyes
There will never be another you
These foolish things
They didn't believe me
This can't be love
Till there was you
Time after time
Too close for comfort
Undecided
Unforgettable
The way you look tonight
What a wonderful world
What are you doing new year's eve
What is this thing called love
When sunny gets blue
When you're smilin'
Witchcraft
You make me feel so young
You'd be so nice to come home to
