Jack is a baritone from the Ribble Valley, Lancashire. In July 2018 Jack graduated from the BMus Vocal Performance course at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and began his Masters in Operatic Performance at the David Seligman Opera School where he continues to study under renowned baritone, Donald Maxwell. Although he mainly studies with Adrian and Donald, Jack has had the pleasure of performing for a number of notable singing teachers and tutors including: Kathryn Harries, Ingrid Surgenor, Robin Bowman, Ryland Davies, Susan McCulloch, Christine Cairns, Margaret Humphrey Clark, Elaine Kidd, Joseph Middleton and Simon Lepper. Recent performance highlights have included, performing Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and performed by the CBSO Youth Chorus and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the 2015 BBC Proms season at the Royal Albert Hall. Also, being a chorus member in Verdi’s Falstaff directed by Martin Constantine and conducted by Carlo Rizzi. Additional highlights have included, singing in the chorus for Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 as well as Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem, both conducted by Carlo Rizzi and performed at St David’s Hall, Cardiff. Jack recently sang his first major operatic role as Willi in Welsh National Youth Opera’s critically acclaimed production of Kommilitonen! by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, directed by Polly Graham and conducted by Alice Farnham. In September Jack was made a Student Scholar of the BBC National Chorus of Wales, under artistic director, Adrian Partington. During his time at the BBC Jack has served as a chorus member and as a soloist in recordings and live broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Wales. In addition to this Jack has also performed larger choral works under the baton of several internationally renowned conductors such as Richard Balcome, Martyn Brabbins and Tadaaki Otaka. Jack continues to sing with the BBC National Chorus of Wales and has recently enjoyed performing as part of the 2017 BBC Proms season at the Royal Albert Hall. Jack is a registered student member of the Musicians Union.
