Hello! My name is Ivan and I'm a young cellist based in London. Currently, I am preparing for my licentiate in music performance (LRSM) which is equivalent to a complete undergraduate degree with honours and have passed every previous grade with distinction. I also have achieved a DipABRSM for piano performance and am working towards an LRSM in piano performance. My favourite experiences to date have to include a performance at the Royal Festival Hall where I was the principal cellist in a performance with the London Philharmonic Orchestra as one of their Junior Artists for the 2023/2024 season and performing at the Barbican with the London Schools Symphony Orchestra with a narration by Dame Janet Suzman. From a young age, I've always been fascinated at how music can convey so many different emotions and feelings that words simply can't describe. Music has the ability to engage, excite and even surprise us due to its sheer range of styles and characters. Throughout my musical career, I have sought to explore these different styles in order to bring the best out of music and have performed anything from Bach to ABBA! That's what inspires me to play - the ability to give any type of audience member their special moment by choosing the perfect piece to suit the situation. Whether it's a Beethoven cello sonata or an adapted version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" there is something for everyone to love about my performances. My services include bespoke private performances and background music for weddings, corporate events, social gatherings, etc., accompanying (with the ability to sight-read pieces fluently), instrumental teaching and recordings (with the ability to video edit and create unique multi-videos).

Ivan played for us at our concert which was held to raise money for the Amber Trust. At our concert, Ivan chose to play the 3rd Movement of Brahms Cello Sonata in E Minor, Op 38. Many people commented on his musical playing. Throughout the piece, Ivan played with great control and technical skill. In the slower passages, Ivan was sensitive to the composer’s intentions, and communication with cellist and accompanist was executed with ease. This performance demonstrated great mastery and emotional warmth. We all enjoyed hearing the cello played with such beauty.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Good music is not only reflected in talent but also in hard work. I believe I have a good mix of both. As all my previous clients can confirm, from the organisation and preparation of my pieces to the feedback after the event, you can be sure that only my best efforts will be provided resulting in a detailed, expressive and genuine performance.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

The most renowned venues I’ve performed in have to be The Royal Albert Hall, The Barbican and St. John’s Waterloo.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Some of my favourite cellists are Mischa Maisky (for his unrivalled expression), Steven Isserlis (due to his authentic interpretation of baroque music) and Patrick Laird (for his entertaining and unique mix of classical and modern music).

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

The most high-profile gig I’ve ever performed in has to be at The Barbican with the London Schools Symphony Orchestra where we performed Schnittke’s Faust Cantata with a narration by Dame Janet Suzman.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to be flexible in order for your event to run as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know so that I can try to adjust accordingly.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually set up around 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance time, although this depends on the type of event.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My set list is only a few examples of the many pieces I've played over the years. You are more than welcome to pick any pieces from the song list, as well as put forward any suggestions you may have, or alternatively, I can recommend a few pieces to suit your event. This can all be discussed in my complimentary virtual consultation.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes! I bring all the equipment necessary for the event. The only thing I require is a power point in order to plug in my digital music stand.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If a song isn't included in my song list, there may still be a chance I already know it. If there is one or multiple special songs you'd like me to learn, I'd be happy to do this for you (depending on the time frame). Please let me know in advance of any special song choices.
