Iván Orlín Ariza, 19 years old violinist from Colombia. Currently and from 2014 is a student of the Bachelor program for violin in the Universität der Künste, UDK (University of Arts), in Berlin, Germany, under the tutelage of Prof. Mo Yi. From 2012 to 2014 studied in the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, ESMRS (Reina Sofía Superior Music School), in Madrid, Spain, in the violin class of Prof. Marco Rizzi. In the summer of 2011 attended to the Summer String Academy at the Jacobs School of Music in the Indiana University, United States. From 2009 to 2012 attended to the Universidad Central in Bogotá, Colombia, during five semesters of the Undergraduate Program of Music. Disciple of colombian violinist and conductor, Adrián Chamorro, from 2008 to 2012. Between 2004 and 2010, studied in the Youngsters Program at the Music Conservatory of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (National University of Colombia). Iván Orlín began his violin studies at the age of four in the Instituto Pedagógico Nacional of Colombia alongside with the Fundación Nacional Batuta (National Foundation Batuta).
Iván Orlín has received master classes from Mimi Zweig, Edvard Grach, Vadim Gluzman, Gordan Nikolic, Bartosz Bryla, Alexander Bonduriansky, Joseph Swensen, Lars Bjørnkjær, Sergey Teslya, Nila Perrou, Ivry Gitlis, Ilya Kaler and Itzhak Perlman.
With eight years old, played Antonio Vilialdi’s G Major Violin Concerto as a soloist with the Orquesta Filarmónica de los Andes, COFA (Los Andes Philharmonic Orchestra), conducted by Maestro Miguel Ángel Casas. With ten, winner of the Youngsters Contest of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, performing A. Vivaldi’s A Minor Violin Concerto with the Collegium Musicum Orchestra (Colombia), conducted by Maestro Zbigniew Zajac. In 2010, at age fourteen, won the Young Talents National Competition of the Cali Philharmonic Orchestra (Colombia), performing the Violin Concerto in E Minor Op. 64 by Felix Mendelssohn, conducted by Maestro Paul Dury. Afterwards, was selected by the National Association of Symphonic Music of Colombia to perform the same violin concerto on march of 2011 with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia in Bogotá, conducted by Maestro Adrián Chamorro, in the frame of winners of national competitions in 2010. In August 2012, performed as soloist Camille Saint-Saëns’s Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso Op. 28 with the Batuta Young Symphony Orchestra in Bogotá, Colombia, conducted by Maestro Ricardo Jaramillo.
Iván Orlín has performed in Concert Halls and Auditoriums such as the Concert Hall of the Luis Ángel Arango Library (Bogotá, Colombia), Enrique Buenaventura de Cali Concert Hall (Cali, Colombia), The Merrill Hall in Bloomington (Indiana University, United States), Sony Auditorium of the ESMRS (Madrid, Spain) and the Joseph Joachim Saal of the UDK (Berlin, Germany), among others.
