Ivan Alekhin is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London (RAM) where he studied with William Bennett and Clare Southworth.

Ivan Alekhin is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London (RAM) where he studied with William Bennett and Clare Southworth and is currently taking his postgraduate course at RNCM with Richard Davis. His flute solo performances in Russia were combined with various international masterclasses and festivals in Hungary, Norway and the United Kingdom. Ivan has performed in concert venues such as the Royal Northern College of Music, Bridgewater Hall, Cadogan Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall. He has been privileged to work with internationally renowned flute professors such as William Bennett, Michael Cox, Gareth Davies, Paul Edmund-Davies, Emily Beynon, Katherine Bryan, Thomas Robertello and Katherine Baker. Ivan’s orchestral experience involves performing for such conductors as Jac van Steen, Edward Gardner, Trevor Pinnock, Robin Ticciati, Paul Mann, Mark Heron, Clark Rundell and Philippe Bach. He had participated in rehearsals with Constella Orchestra at the Royal Opera House with Leo Geyer and Philharmonia Orchestra with Yuri Timirkanov. He also had an opportunity to have coachings with members of Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Netherlands wind ensemble and enjoys regular performances within and outside RNCM. During his postgraduate he was selected to take part in special performances at the John Ryland’s Library, Lasham Chamber Music Festival and New Music North West Festival where he hand an opportunity to work with and perform for Sir Harrison Birtwistle. Ivan is also a founding member of the Gilbert Trio and enjoys regular performances with them in London and Manchester. He combines his flute playing with composition and conducting and has been tutored in both throughout his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Ivan was awarded a full scholarship into Chetham’s School of Music, entrance scholarship into RNCM and he plays on a Trevor James recital flute kindly awarded to him by Trevor James Flutes.
