Verified profile

Fresh out of the Manchester scene for contemporary music Isobel has her own style of performance with a focus on visual art aiming to engage audiences and create comedy in music. Having just finished her studies on the joint course between the University of Manchester and The Royal Northern College of Music she is in high demand as a multi-instrumentalist, arranger and performer with a particular passion for world music and visual performance. As a keen arranger her music has been performed by the Abelia Saxophone Quartet on all their tours and recently a whole programme of her music was performed by the ensemble of the same name on their tour of Switzerland. She took orchestral works and scaled them down to just 8 performers – including the theme to Chicken Run! A keen ensemble musician and collaborator she has performed as part of the Netherlands Blazers Ensemble, and worked with composers for the Austrian contemporary music group PHACE. She lived and volunteered in Kenya from December 2017 to December 2018 and taught music to students with the aim to inspire and encourage girls to pursue music in a gender imbalanced society and gain the confidence to be at the forefront of the next generation of young artists. She directed choirs, accompanied and wrote music for the Kenyan Music Festival 2018 and also worked with ABRSM in Nairobi. She teaches composition and also assists with ABRSM aurals as well as instrumental teaching in the Warwickshire area. She also toured the South of the UK with Giffords' Circus 2019 as a multi-instrumentalist playing violin, flute and saxophones.

Cotswold L, 1 year ago

First off we need to talk about the soundtrack for the Xanadu show as, try as I might, I haven't been able to shake the earworms from my head. Imagine "it's midsummer 1973 in Hyde Park and the flower power movement is at its height," and so we're treated to tunes such as 'White Rabbit', 'Hazy Shade of Winter' and 'Aquarius', all played by the ever-brilliant house band.

The P, 1 year ago

Each year, with a new show, the small band perform daily to bring a couple of hours of magical delights to the audience.
