Multi-genre violinist studying at RNCM, Manchester - experienced in improvisation and loop pedals. Jazz/Classical/Pop/Rock.
An experienced improviser and multi-genre violinist, Isabella began lessons at the age of 7 and progressed quickly, resulting in her gaining a place at the Junior RNCM at the age of 11. She was awarded a place in the Hallé Youth Orchestra aged 13, where she gained a vast amount of orchestral experience, receiving the opportunity to play in a contemporary opera at the Royal Opera House, as well as performing alongside the Hallé Orchestra. During this time, Isabella also attended the Pro Corda North summer courses, where her string quartet was chosen to perform Beethoven quartet op.18 no.1 in a showcase concert at Cardiff Millenium Centre. At 16, Isabella then obtained a place at Chetham’s School of Music, where she participated in a wide range of musical activities, including violin masterclasses with Sigyn Fossnes from Barratt Due Institute of Music, Norway, and Fionnuala Hunt from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She also took part in the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra whilst there, performing at prestigious venues such as Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, and Bridgewater Hall. Isabella went on to gain a scholarship to the Royal Northern College of Music, where she is currently studying. Taking a keen interest in chamber music, her string quartet (the Marvolo Quartet) have already received a following, and have rehearsed with the likes of the Elias Quartet and renowned composer Colin Matthews, performing Matthews’ String Quartet No.5 in the RNCM’s “In Focus” concert series. As well as this, Isabella has a passion for improvisation and jazz, taking inspiration from artists such as Stephane Grappelli, Zach Brock and Alex DePue whilst also using loop pedals to create her own compositions. She has also gained a wide experience in session work, performing on tracks by British band ‘Second City’, and also attending a summer school at Berklee College of Music (USA) in order to further her skills as a rock/jazz/pop violinist.
