India Rose Strings – the No.1 choice for string music in Yorkshire and surrounding areas. India Rose Strings is a collection of talented, professional musicians who specialise in creating stunning music to compliment all events. All Music Performance graduates with lively personalities, we have the ability to effortlessly captivate a room. Many hours are spent perfecting our music, combining arrangement and improvisation to produce a unique sound fit for the most special occasions. Be it a wedding, a party or an event, we specialise in entertainment with a difference. Book us as a string quartet, -trio or -duo, a cello and piano duo, or voice and piano duo. But even better? You can add vocals to a string quartet booking! This is a truly flexible ensemble and with our experience, you can rely on us to provide the sparkling atmosphere your guests will love. Although we are based in Leeds and primarily take bookings from the four corners of Yorkshire, we are happy to perform all over the country and beyond! Chloe Merriott - Cello Chloe is a cellist and singer whose dynamic personality has led her to play music in France, Slovenia, Spain, China, Belgium, Germany and Holland. Having graduated from Newcastle University with a First Class Honours Degree in Performance, she has continued to perform with musicians all over the world. A musically diverse and vibrant performer, Chloe’s collaborations extend into contemporary dance, World and Classical musics, spoken word (featured on BBC Radio 3), dance fusion and improvisation. Chloe also enjoys songwriting and arranging music for her string quartet, her 8-piece swing band and her ceilidh band. Hannah Rosebury - Violin & Piano Hannah has been playing music since a very young age and now specialises in violin and piano. Also a music teacher, Hannah is passionate about getting young people into music and is an extremely active member of the music community in West Yorkshire. Her performance experience has led her to work with orchestras, string quartets and, being from Aberdeen, a lot of ceilidh bands! Hannah has a knack for arranging pop music for string quartet and many of her arrangements can be found among our repertoire. Megan Swinchin - Viola Megan is a viola player who has extensive experience performing solo and in ensembles across a range of musical genres. She majored in performance at the University of Huddersfield, where she explored 20th century repertoire for Viola. She has played in many different orchestras, such as the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra as principal viola. Megan has collaborated with many different post-rock groups, which has resulted in travelling throughout the county and Europe.  She has also recorded film soundtracks for the musician, Bill Ryder-Jones, former guitarist in the Liverpool band The Coral. These soundtracks include 'Leave Taking' (2009), a short film funded by Northwest Vision and Media and the UK Film Council, directed by Laurence Easeman, and 'Piggy' (2012), directed by Kieron Hawkes. When she is not performing, Megan teaches strings in schools across Leeds. Aimée Storton - Violin Aimée is a violinist from West Yorkshire and a graduate of the University of Huddersfield where she led the Symphony and String Orchestras and achieved a First Class Honours Degree in Music. As a member of many orchestras and musical ensembles, Aimée has had the chance to perform in France, Austria, Luxembourg and Germany, as well as in notable venues such as the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios and the Royal Albert Hall. Aimée has interests in a mix of musical genres and aspires to make music accessible to all, wishing to work with people from all styles and specialisms. Keen to further her passion for music, Aimée has just finished studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in Music Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes. We are flexible ensemble to fit space or requirements. We can provide: String quartet (Violin, Violin, Viola, Cello) String trio (Violin, Viola, Cello) String duo (Violin, Cello) Cello & Piano Duo Voice & Piano Duo We also are able to add vocals to a string quartet booking for special requests, such as a First Dance!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run-up to the event, let us know as soon as you can.

How much time do you need to set up?

In most venues, we play acoustically and this allows us to set up quite quickly. We can be ready to play in under 15mins!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our repertoire is extensive and so we appreciate your input as to what might suit your event or what your guests might like to hear. Special requests are always welcome! We are equally happy to organise our own setlist based on what we think will sound beautiful in the venue acoustics and what we think your guests will enjoy.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, we usually perform acoustically, but PA can be providded with enough notice.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes, if a song isn't included on our songlist, there may still be a good chance that we have the music, or know it already. Our catalogue is far too big to write up on our profile! If we do not currently have the piece you request in our repertoire, we will gladly arrange it for string quartet.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The quality of our music is the most highly praised aspect of our performances, but we are also are well rehearsed, well presented and extremely friendly.
