Independent Musicians Collective (IMC) are a dynamic and diverse 6-piece vocal collective. Together with our amazing Musical Director & pianist Matt Bain, we perform stunning original arrangements of pop, rock, funk, soul, disco, house and R&B songs, transforming them into dazzling multiphonic arrangements with deep bass lines, vital funky rhythms and stunning soulful lead vocals. Our grooves are guaranteed to get everyone up on their feet! Established in 2017, IMC have a number of sell-out shows under our belt, including at Pizza Express Live, Holborn, The Pheasantry, Chelsea, Soul Mama London and our residency at The Troubadour Club, Earls Court. We regularly perform at weddings, celebrations, private events and corporate functions, Our talented members have performed on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, on stage at the O2 Arena, at the opening of the Rugby World Cup, live on Jazz FM and at top venues across London including the Southbank Centre, the Camden Jazz Café and XOYO club in Shoreditch. IMC members have also appeared extensively on BBC TV and radio. We’re dynamic, energetic and entertaining. Whatever your musical preferences, our unique sound is the perfect accompaniment to an event your guests will always remember.

Outstanding, would be the best way to describe them ! We wanted a “Sister Act” style gospel set to be sung at our church wedding ceremony and really struggled to find a group that would meet our requirements. Once we found The Independent Musicians Collective however, our prayers were answered. We found Matt extremely helpful and their vocal talents and pianist skills at both the church and our reception did not disappoint. The Collective has left us with memories that will last a lifetime.

Jo from IMC sung at our Spring wedding this last April (2022) in Dorset and created the perfect vibe for our ceremony. Jo has a stunning voice and was able to sing all the songs we asked for, with a relaxed, soulful sound, with only recorded backing piano music as accompaniment. She filled the chapel with her sound and seamlessly transitioned between tracks on our ceremony order. We are so grateful to Jo for making her way to Dorset for our wedding, for creating such a wonderful vibe for our ceremony and for her incredible talents!

The singers were amazing they did everything I asked for on my wedding day they were all good but the girl with the long blonde hair her voice was exceptionally good 😍 all my guests complimented them. The groom and I were very very happy with them. They were so accommodating as well as my wedding day was postponed twice due to covid 19. I can’t recommend them enough 🤗🤗

The Independent Musicians Collective (IMC) a talented 8-piece vocal collective performed at the Hampstead Summer Festival on the Hampstead Jazz Club stage and received a warm welcome from the thousands of people at the festival. A 6-piece for this occasion, performed some stunning arrangements of music that people were familiar with from jazz, soul and Motown and had the crowd dancing in the streets! As a follow-up, IMC performed in the intimate Hampstead Jazz Club which is known for its quality and diverse programming, situated in the basement of the Duke of Hamilton Pub, IMC performed at the After-Party showing off their musical abilities as a vocal collective accompanied on the club’s baby grand piano by their talented pianist.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

We perform as a vocal group (from 5 to 8 singers) with piano backing. Cello accompaniment is available on request. We can also perform acapella. Prices may change depending on the line up requested - please get in touch!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try to be flexible - please let us know as soon as possible if any details change and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We are happy for you to play your own playlist through our PA system between sets!

How much time do you need to set up?

1.5 hours before the performance would be ideal.

Can you roam around while you perform?

As we perform intricate close vocal harmonies, we sound better as a tight group so perform best on a stage or fixed area.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes - choose from our repertoire, and pick up to two other songs if there is something you would like outside our reportoire!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes - we have a portable electric piano, mixer deck, speakers, and individual mics for all the performers.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our set list and you would like us to learn it before the event, we'd love to help but will need some advance warning! There will be a fee for this service to take into account rehearsal time etc. Please contact us and we'll chat things through :)
