Ildefons Alonso Valls obtained in 2007 his degree in classical piano from ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, Barcelona). Three years later, his passion for the drums brought him back to ESMUC to study his degree on jazz drums which has completed last June. This year he is presenting his own project “Metrinova”, a jazz quartet where he spills, both in composition and interpretation, all the knowledge acquired along years of study and performing. Jo Krause, David Xirgu, Joan Monné, Giulia Valle, Elisabeth Raspall, Ignasi Terraza and Lluís Vidal are the outstanding teachers who have opened him the doors to the jazz language and the possibility to perform and record with great musicians of the current catalan jazz scene. Ildefons Alonso Valls has started a new stage after being playing with successful projects that are part of other music styles closer to pop and folk. At the moment he is living in London, playing with the catalan indie artist “El Petit de Cal Eril” (with whom recorded his last release “La figura del buit”) and participating in several jazz projects in Barcelona.
Ildefons Alonso has been playing as a sideman in a lot of projects. The two last years he has been touring with the catalan indie artist El petit de Cal Eril. He has been part of Underpool Sessions Series of label Underpool Records. From 2000s he is an usual drummer of the folk, pop & rock catalan scene. He played and recorded with Xazzar (winners of Sona 9 award in 2006), Abono pa la Tierra (funk-metal), Mínnim (pop) and Cataplàusia (power-psicodelich-rock) and he worked also in musical theater with Dagoll Dagom in La nit de Sant Joan with the composer and piano player Xavi Lloses.
