Igor Selutin

Born in the South Western region of Ukraine, not far from the birthplace of his favourite composer Sergei Prokofiev, Igor Selutin began his formal study of classical guitar at the age of twelve. He went on to train at The Donetsk Musical College, where he expanded his musicianship through composing and orchestrating for a folk ensemble, before continuing his studies in jazz guitar and composition at the Rachmaninov Conservatoire in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. In 1991, Igor moved to the UK and settled in London, where he combined an active performing career as a classical guitarist and with advanced study of composition, earning a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction in Composing for Film and TV at the London College of Music. Alongside his performing, he became a respected guitar teacher, working in state schools and private colleges such as Eltham College, Windsor Boys’ and Girls’ Schools, and for Berkshire Maestros. From 2011 to 2020, Igor worked as a professional musician on cruise ships, eventually becoming Music Director for Regent Seven Seas and Oceania Cruises. His regular classical guitar sets delighted audiences, who praised his elegance, artistry, and professionalism. Now based in Wales, Igor continues to perform as a classical guitarist, electric session player, and freelance composer, arranger, and producer. His wide repertoire spans classical masterpieces, jazz standards, popular favourites, folk, and world music. He is also happy to prepare special requests, ensuring each performance is uniquely tailored.
