Ioanna Athanasiadou was born in 1993 in Thessaloniki. Currently she is an undergraduate scholar student at the Royal Academy of music in the vocal department and her professor is Yvonne Howard. She is a mezzo soprano and she has given concerts in Greece, the UK, Turkey and Germany. Recently, Ioanna Athanasiadou has participated as member of the lead choir in the ‘Memorial’ by Jocelyn Pook at the Barbican Centre (2018). Furthermore, she had taken part as a soloist in the masterclass of Helmut Deutsch, which was held at RAM (2018). She attended the opera class of the State Conservatoire of Thessaloniki and the vocal class in the New Conservatoire of Thessaloniki. As far as her personal performances are concerned, she gave a solo performance of "Gloria" Vivaldi with orchestral accompaniment and in the next year, "Erbarme dich" by Bach. Athanasiadou’s first protagonist’s role was Haensel from "Haensel und Gretel" by Engelbert Humperdinck. Furthermore, she participated in the "Jugend musiziert" an international competition in 2013, where she was awarded the first prize in the first round in Thessaloniki (Greece), the first prize also in the second round in Istanbul (Turkey) and the third prize in the final round, which was held in Fürth (Germany). Moreover, she is a member of the Saint Sophia choir at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in the UK, where she has been asked to give solo performances for several services. Additionally, she is frequently requested to sing at several events, such as private concerts, chamber room concerts and other ceremonies.
