About Hope

Classically Trained Crossover Soprano and Prizewinning Graduate of the Royal Academy of Music; singing anything from Bach to Burt Bacharach
Singer (soprano)
London
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Hope is a London-based singer-actor who is as comfortable in a Shakespearian stanza as she is in the high ledger lines of a Mozart aria. Throughout her work, she is acclaimed as a communicative, sensitive and innovative artist; working across opera, musical theatre, screen and stage, alongside the additional musical genres of folk, jazz, pop, rock and country. Hope has performed in venues including The Royal Albert Hall, The British Museum, The Barbican, St. Paul’s Church in Covent Garden and The Glasshouse International Centre for Music. She represented the UK in the United Nations’ 75th Anniversary Concert, held virtually on UN Day in 2020, and was delighted to join the cast of the Royal Opera House’s production of Don Giovanni in 2021. Throughout 2022 and 2023, she performed as a Resident Guest Entertainer for both Princess Cruises and Seabourn Cruises. Whilst on board the Discovery Princess, Hope was invited to perform for and collaborate with Grammy, Golden Globe and Oscar-Winning Composer, Allan Rich. She holds a Master of Arts with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music, where she was the recipient of the Parepa-Rose Prize and was supported by the Tom Acton Memorial Trust and the Royal Academy of Music. She performed the role of Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte as part of the Royal Academy’s Opera Scenes and The Jay in Royal Academy Opera’s Production of Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen before workshopping Queen of The Night for Die Zauberflöte and graduating in 2019. As a concert soloist, Hope has sung Vivaldi's Gloria and Mozart's and Fauré's Requiems with the Corsley Festival Orchestra. She premiered Paul Carr's Gloria as the soprano soloist and sang the soprano solo in Handel's Messiah, both for the English Arts Chorale. In 2019, her childhood dreams of mermaidism finally came to pass when she performed Alla Sirenko’s song cycle The Love of The Mermaid, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s original tale. In 2018, she obtained a First-Class Honours Bachelor's Degree from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she participated in Masterclasses with Rita Susovsky and Gidon Saks and performed in both a Concert and Masterclass with David Gowland and the Royal Opera House Jette Parker Young Artists. She was the winner of the 2018 Lillian Ash French Song Competition, awarded by Roger Vignoles, and was announced as a finalist in the 2018 Elizabeth Schumann Lieder Competition, both with collaborative pianist Claire Habbershaw. She also performed the role of Female Chorus in Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia for Trinity Laban Opera. Other credits include: Cover Despina/Chorus in Cosi fan tutte for Opéra de Baugé, where she was a recipient of the Gil Rodriguez Scholarship for outstanding contribution to the 2015 Operatic Season, Cover Galatea/Chorus in Acis and Galatea for Hurn Court Opera, Laurie in The Tender Land and Wife of Chao/Soprano Actor in A Night At The Chinese Opera, both as part of Trinity Laban’s Opera Scenes

Hope has an absolutely beautiful voice that I would never tire of listening to. We booked Hope to sing at a funeral service and she sang perfectly, with tenderness and compassion. She was a complete professional in both the run up to the service and during, even taking time to speak with us afterwards. As a bonus she is also a lovely person. I highly recommend Hope for any event.

Hope is a staggeringly versatile soprano who is ideally suited to singing many challenging arias from throughout the opera repertoire. I've had the pleasure of employing Hope on a number of projects and her ability to adapt to other genres from folk to jazz is a very rare quality for true classical singers and demonstrates her mastery of the voice. I'm often surprised by just how far her performance skills stretch; a very natural actor, expressive performer and fantastic collaborator. I would not hesitate to book Hope and will continue to do so myself.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

One of my favourite aspects of performance is engaging with my audience. A recent audiencegoer from a gig told me that "from Bach to Bacharach, there's a beautiful empathy" to all my performances, which I pride myself on.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I've performed in a variety of venues, varying from private dinner parties in back gardens to the Royal Albert Hall and the British Museum.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Whilst there's no denying the awe-inspiring power of singers like Maria Callas and Leontyne Price, I actually find I'm drawn to artists such as Gordon Haskell, Dolly Parton and Joni Mitchell.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Performing at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in their production of Don Giovanni last year

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try to be as flexible as possible with timings, and totally understand that sometimes events don't always run to schedule! If there are any tweaks to the timing, just let me know as soon as possible.

How much time do you need to set up?

Set up time tends to vary from gig to gig. Usually, less than an hour, maximum an hour and a half.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Of course! I'm more than happy to chop and change repertoire choices to fit your preferences.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Absolutely! Please don't hesitate to drop me a line about any specific requests you have for songs/arias.
