Hip Hip 2 Rays

The Rays play a mixture of styles - taking in jazz, soul, reggae and many standards. We are happy to do a whole evening of material from the likes of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Louis Jordan or alternatively give you a night of Tom Jones, UB40, Wilson Pickett and Barry White. We are happiest playing both sides of the coin in one night, giving a rounded evening to the broadest audience possible. One of the Two Rays sings and plays tenor and baritone sax (though not all at the same time). The other Ray plays clarinet, alto and soprano sax. Hip Hip Two Rays generally play two 45 minute spots, "with extra time for injuries" (we've been known to do the odd encore). Any function requiring a DJ for the "other bits" of the evening can also be covered by our erstwhile Mixing Desk Girl / Occasional Backing Vocalist / Chauffeur / Self Appointed Manager, Jill. We can stay up as late as you. We play many of our songs as faithfully to their original style as possible, but we also like to throw in the occasional oddity. Guitar territory such as Wonderful Tonight and Parisienne Walkways take on a completely different feel when we play them. And if the audience is the right stuff, their assistance as a small kazoo orchestra on songs such as Minnie The Moocher and Delilah can be something to behold. Whether it's a formal function or a bit of fun, Hip Hip Two Rays can fit your style. Just make sure they don't offer you the inflatable sax.
