Hereford Fanfare Trumpets is a group of professional musicians based in the Herefordshire area. We add a special musical and ceremonial touch to many types of occasions, bringing your event to life in style. Colin Hales, the founder of Hereford Fanfare Trumpets, spent over 25 years as a military musician, the last 15 as Bandmaster. He has composed, conducted, and performed fanfares in virtually any scenario imaginable, even on horseback! Some of Colin's compositions have been very formal, others mixed his depth of skills and passion as a composer and arranger with his knowledge of modern pop music to provide a bespoke musical extravaganza. With Hereford Fanfare Trumpets Colin is offering a new service to Herefordshire and the neighboring counties and with it the exciting opportunity to enrich your special occasion or event with your very own fanfare. All our highly qualified performers (performance degrees in music/composition/conducting etc.) have substantial experience in providing professional level trumpet fanfares for over 30 years apiece. We all have a military background and a proven record of playing for very high-profile occasions on the grandest stages. From Awards evenings at grand corporate events/conferences and graduation ceremonies to Royal visits and TV/film work, we’ve pretty much covered everything at one time or another! We have the ability and experience to tailor your fanfare at your request. For example, last year we wrote a fanfare based on Truly Scrumptious from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang following an enquiry from the bride’s mother! This, together with three other fanfares we played on the day, was then printed out, framed, and presented to the bride and groom as a memento of their big day. * A personalised fanfare We can compose a bespoke piece for your event. This could be a traditional fanfare or more informal, incorporating some of your favourite music. * An enduring memory The sheet music for your bespoke composition can be framed and presented to you at your event as a special memento. * Occasions The following events are all perfect for fanfare trumpets, however, the list of proceedings that would benefit is endless. If you don’t see your specific occasion listed, please contact us for further information. - COMMERCIAL/BUSINESS DINNERS AND EVENTS (Arrival of a VIP; A theme for the event; Announce the meal is being served; The guest speaker; A specific course during a meal; Unveiling of a product) - FORMAL CIVIC EVENTS (Arrival of the VIP; The serving of a meal) - WEDDINGS (The arrival of the Bride; The departure of the Bride and Groom; To accompany Hymns; The meal; The speeches) - SPORTING EVENTS (The arrival of a team/participant; Medal ceremonies) - A PRIZE GIVING - A GUEST SPEAKER - UNVEILING CEREMONIES (The arrival of the VIP; The ribbon being cut) - GRADUATION CEREMONIES (To open the ceremony; The entrance of the procession party; Presentation of special awards) - REMEMBRANCE (Paying appropriate respects to the recently departed is important to everyone. A live performance of The Last Post and Reveille by a Bugler or Trumpeter in uniform is always, without doubt, the perfectly fitting tribute to anyone associated with the military, whether they have been involved with The Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army, or Royal Air Force.) Colin's work and experiences include performing at: - HM The Queen’s Golden Jubilee service at St Paul’s Cathedral in 2003 - The Royal Variety Show - Gloucester Cathedral and many other church events accompanying hymns and carols - Formal music concerts both indoor and open-air - The launch of a new aircraft by British Aerospace - The closure of the Leyland Daf factory - The World String Quartet finals at the Barbican - The Festival of Remembrance at The Royal Albert Hall - International Polo matches - International Football at Wembley Stadium - International Horse shows - Celebrity events - Weddings and birthday parties

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, we can provide any number up to the full compliment of four. The maximum number is highly recommended, as this will project the most significant impact.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

It is almost unheard of for events to run precisely to time. We will always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to, or even during the event, please do just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I’m afraid we can’t provide this facility.

How much time do you need to set up?

We will need approximately 20-30 minutes to change and get ourselves ready to play, but if we know exactly where and when you’d like us to play, we are used to allowing for this time ourselves.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Each fanfare is played whilst we are stood still, but we are more than happy to change locations upon request! Some have been on stairs, stages, and even once on an escalator!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Please do feel free to request a themed fanfare for your special moment and we’ll arrange the music and send you an electronic midi file of the composition for you to proof-listen!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

You won’t need us to use any PA as we’ve been heard from over half a mile away! All we ask is that suitable lighting is provided in order for us to see the music! We will need approximately 2x6 metres space to perform, but depending on the location, we can flex on this if it’s possible.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Please do feel free to request a themed fanfare for your special moment and we’ll arrange the music and send you an electronic midi file of the composition for you to proof-listen!

Hi Colin, thanks for today and for your advice and suggestions during the build up. I think the fanfares you played were pitched at just the right level for the occasion and at the most appropriate locations. I have been advised that the wedding will probably be aired on S4C sometime on Boxing Day. I’ll let you know the exact times when I know more. All the best, Nige
