Henry, 21, is currently in his fourth year studying at the Royal Academy of Music with Felix Schmidt

Henry, 21, is currently studying for BMus in cello performance at the Royal Academy of Music with Felix Schmidt. Henry is principal cello with Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra and assistant cello tutor at Youth Music Centre, Golders Green. He started learning aged 6 with Michael Nebe, at the Bromley Youth Music Trust and then Gillian Thoday. Henry has won many prizes, including the May Mukle Prize (Academy cello prize) and an award from the Raphael Sommer Foundation. He has been invited to perform concertos at venues in Spain, France, Italy and around the UK in venues including Fairfield Halls. He has given numerous solo and chamber recitals at St James Piccadilly, the Forge Camden, Mozarteum Salzburg, Marylebone Festival, Cambridge University, Charlton House, Academy Russian Chamber Music festival and including a recital raising over £500 for Evelina Children’s Hospital. Henry was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for 2014/5 which included performing at the BBC proms and Young Euro Classic, Berlin. At the Academy he has performed in Symphony Orchestra projects with outstanding conductors and was recently principal cello in a concert conducted by Ryan Wigglesworth in memory of Oliver Knussen. Henry has a successful private class, where students have won numerous awards and places in the National Children's Orchestra. When time is free Henry enjoys cooking, running, walking in the mountains and watching athletics championships.
