Helen Twomey (née Greenhalgh) is a busy freelance violinist based in Orpington in the London Borough of Bromley. Her diverse schedule includes working with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout London and the UK, a violin and piano duo and a piano trio. Helen graduated from Trinity College of Music in 1999.
As a performer of classical music, she plays regularly with the DeHavilland Philharmonic and Chameleon Arts Orchestra around the UK and has also worked with Milton Keynes City Orchestra, Kentish Opera and the London Soloists Chamber Orchestra on many occasions. Since 2012, Helen has been playing with the Darwin Piano Trio, who have played many recital programmes around London and the UK including Bristol Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, Chelmsford Cathedral and St. Martins Within Ludgate. In addition to her piano trio work, Helen also performs as a violin and piano duo with Eleanor Tagart.
Helen has worked with singer songwriters and her playing has appeared on popular television shows such as BBC’s Waterloo Road and Channel 4’s Hollyoaks. Live radio shows include BBC Radio Kent, TalkSport 1089AM and Resonance FM. She has toured the UK, Denmark, Sweden, USA and the Netherlands.
Degrees and certificates Helen holds are a Bachelor of Music (BMus) from Trinity College of Music, a PGCE (Post-Graduate Certificate of Education) in Music from the University of London’s Institute of Education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Performance certificates include a Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL) in Music Performance, a DipABRSM and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).
Helen plays on a 2011 Frédéric Chaudiere violin.
