Hayley Brown

Currently part of the bank teaching staff for South Devon College in Paignton as part of the music department. Member of Musician's Union, PRS and PPL. Currently studying towards a BA Honours degree for music performance with a singer songwriter pathway at The Academy of Music and Sound, Exeter. Achieved double distinction * BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Music Performance at South Devon College. With over 35 years experience of performing and teaching, I am now happy to be back in the music industry in both a studying, performing and teaching role. An experienced musician, I had my first professional contract playing in a children's band at the age of eleven for a Christmas show and was a regular backing organist for various local pubs and clubs in the North of England up until the age of 18. Having studied music at a Derbyshire girl's grammar school to O' and A' Level, I definitely much preferred the dazzling lights of live performance and rather than going to university I spent the next two years honing and learning my profession as a children's entertainer at a very popular caravan site at Chapel St Leonards near Skegness. This experience was invaluable and I worked with many professional entertainers such as Jimmy James & the Vagabonds, Mud and many other celebrities such as Ken Dodd and Billy Pearce. During my time at the camp site I became an equity member. Upon leaving the summer season adventure behind I ventured, very briefly, into the world of television and had various extra acting roles including 'The Bretts' and 'The lives and loves of a she devil'. Sadly, my heart very much remained in music and entertaining and for a couple of years I was asked to work with a couple of rock bands and even worked with Unit Four Plus Two for a short period. I also returned to the East Midlands and was a regular entertainer on the working men's club circuit as a solo artist singing to the new revolution of backing tracks. In my early 20's I formed an 80's band called 'Blue' who were a synthesiser trio who played 80's covers. I enjoy many genres of music and often like the contrast of classical with modern rock and pop music and I am keen to experiment with a mix of styles. I am particularly talented at sight reading musical scores and 'dots' and am proficient on piano and keyboards with strong vocal ability. I can get a tune out of acoustic guitar and clarinet.
