Harry Toulson is an 18 year old jazz saxophonist pianist and composer based in London. In 2012 he was offered a place at Chethams School Of Music and had the honour of being tutored by World Class Musicians Iain Dixon, Les Chisnal, Steve Berry and Richard Iles. Since being at Chethams, Harry has had the chance of working with fellow students and went on to form his own band Northern Quarters. His Jazz Ensemble have performed across many prestigious venues across Manchester including Band on The Wall and the Bridgewater Hall. In April 2016 World Renowned Jazz Pianist Gwilym Simcock, ex Chethams Student, gave a Masterclass at Chethams and performed with the group in concert at Chethams Whitely Hall. In 2014 Harry was awarded a place in the Greater Manchester Jazz Orchestra playing lead alto, with Big Band writer Richard Iles leading the Band. With the Jazz Orchestra Harry has performed across various venues and on the 11th of November 2014 the band performed at the World famous Royal Albert Hall London for the Commemorations to the Centenary of World War One. In 2017 the Jazz Orchestra Performed in the Wigan International Jazz Festival. Harry also studied with tutor Andrew Wilson at Chethams studying a more classical approach to the Saxophone. He has performed at villages across the North and performed as a soloist with Orchestra in the Stoller Hall, after winning an award to perform the concerto Escapades written by John Williams. As well as a saxophonist, Harry is a classical and jazz pianist. Before Joining Chethams at the age of 12 he became the Junior Championship winner in the Darlington music festival. He now currently studies with renowned pianist and conductor Jonathan Middleton with whom he has gained his grade 8 with high distinction and taken part in many competitions including Yamaha, Bosendorf and gained third prize in the school's Bach competition and was acclaimed very highly commended in Chethams Chopin Competition. In June 2016 Harry put together a 17 piece big band and performed his original composition 'Morning Call'. A review by the North West End said "A fabulous piece with the full Big Band treatment, which started the concert off with a Bang! Harry is now studying at the Guildhall School of Music and drama in London with principal teacher Iain Ballamy.
