Verified profile

I've been drumming since 2008, and have recently graduated from Newcastle University with a BA (Hons) degree in Contemporary and Popular Music. Since I moved to the North East (from the North West) in 2015 I've been lucky enough to work with loads of fantastic musicians inside and outside of the city, and have had great fun sharing stages with bands and artists performing genres ranging from jazz to rock, country to funk, and Motown to indie. I've been studying jazz throughout my degree with the intention of improving my musicality, vocabulary, and technique so that I can be thrown into any situation and not be terrified, which was helped massively through the variety of projects I have play with whilst juggling being a freelance and session drummer with doing a degree. Below this section you'll see a number of bands that I currently work with, and below that a list of companies, venues, and organisations that I have previously worked with including ITV (Vera S07E04, 2017), Houghton Hall (Royal Charity Event, 2016), and Oxbridge (Trinity and St. Hilda's May Balls, 2018). I'm currently working hard with a handful of musicians on some original projects, acting as part of a backing band for some singer-songwriters, which has giving me a platform to apply some of the nerdy music stuff I've learnt through my degree to make some songs that have a technical twist. My experience of drumming in such a range of styles and genres has allowed me to perform with a countless list of musicians who are all better than me at something or another, so I push myself to learn from them and push them in return. My aim is to learn, improve, and enjoy every aspect of music I come in contact with.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I try to be as flexible as I can. Just let me know if any changes in the lead up to the event.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can if you like, I've got some cracking playlists.

How much time do you need to set up?

My record for setting up my whole kits from cases to gig ready is 9mins 52secs, but, ideally, about half an hour is enough to have a set up without stress.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely, choose whatever songs you like from my extensive song list, and request any that you'd like or warn me of some you'd like to void.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I do. I have two drum kits for different settings (one smaller one for Jazz and quieter gigs, one bigger one for heavier and louder concerts), with full cymbals set up. I also own a cajon and various bits of percussion for acoustic gigs, as well as kick and snare mics if you'd like a bit more oomph.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I absolutely can, as long as there is adequate notice. No extra fee, just let me know!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I'm easy to work with, I learn the songs with great details, and I love what I do!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Cambridge, Oxford, Durham, Newcastle, Keele, Royal Holloway Universities, ITV, BBC, Sage Gateshead, St James' Park, Riverside Stadium, Mowden Park, Camden Market, British Army, Houghton Hall, Beamish Hall, Lumley Castle, Tribfest, Newbury Real Ale Festival, Bush Hall, Hilton, Marriott, The Cluny, Middlesborough Theatre, The Garage (Islington), and many more.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

At this time of writing (March 2019), it was the Kopycat Killers double whammy of the world's largest tribute festival (Tribfest 2018) in front of 6000 people followed by Newbury Real Ale Festival in front of 10,000 people. www.thekopycatkillers.com

I’ve worked with Harry many times now and he has proven that he is able to adapt to any musical situation I throw him into. He has an amazing ability to take a small idea that you may have, work with it, and further it into something far more creative and musical. All of this coupled with his professionalism and general loveliness makes him an indispensable member of the band.
