Hara Kostogianni was born in Greece and started playing the piano at the age of six. She started her studies at the National Conservatory of Athens where she was awarded the Soloist Diploma with grade ‘Excellent unanimously and First Prize’ in 2001. In July 2005 she completed her studies for the Bachelor in Music [BMus (Hons)] and two years later she graduated the Royal College of Music after obtaining the MMus in Music in Advanced performance. Hara has performed with orchestras and has given recitals in Greece, Italy, France and UK both as a soloist and as an accompanist. She has also won several prizes including Second prize in the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition, and First prize in the ‘Pozzo Di Gotto’ international competition in Italy. Since 2008, she has formed Calliope Duo (violin and piano), which has performed in popular venues such as Victoria and Albert Museum and National Gallery. She is also an experienced vocal/instrumental accompanist with excellent sight reading skills and has performed in various chamber music events and festivals. Hara has also done several recordings including Mikis Theodorakis’s 1st Cretan Sonatina that was broadcasted on Radio BBC 3 for the programme Music Feature: Theodorakis – Greece’s Musical Revolutionary in January 2010. Her more recent recording was with the talented singer/songwriter Virginia Thorn on her album 'How shall we say goodbye?' for which Hara has composed the piano parts herself.
