singer (Soprano)

SOPRANO After initial studies in academic music and performance at the University of Chichester, Hannah continues her vocal tuition under the guidance of Andrew Watts before commencing her postgraduate studies this September at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with Kathryn Harries. Other previous training programmes include Glyndebourne Youth Opera, Youth Opera Young Artists (Glyndebourne), National Opera Studio’s Opera Intro and British Youth Opera. In opera performance, Hannah has been featured in the roles of Barbarina/LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Papagena and First Woman/DIE ZAUBERFLOTE, Micaela/CARMEN and Nella/GIANNI SCHICCHI; she has also premiered roles of Wisdom Moon/WHO AM I?, Boy Soldier/WHEN I AM OLD (Hannah Conway) and The Wife/HAWKING (John Vallis). Her recent engagement was the role of the Bride in the UK premiere of Cavalli’s HIPERMESTRA at 2017 Glyndebourne Festival Opera directed by Graham Vick. On the concert platform, Hannah was a soprano soloist for Canteloube's CHANTS D'AUVERGNE (Vol 1) in Chartres and Chichester with the University’s Chamber and Symphony Orchestra under Crispin Ward, Villa Lobos' BACHIANAS BRASILEIRAS No.5 and Nielsen’s SYMPHONY No 3 with Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra under Dominic Grier. Alongside performances of standard classical repertoire Hannah has a strong relationship with new music and compositions beyond the conventional labeling, resulting as a frequent solo soprano of the University’s Sinfonietta under Adam Swayne; portraying the roles of 1st Barbie/WHAT’S THAT SPELL? (Michael Daugherty), Nazi Prostitute/WEIMAR (Adam Gorb), and Political Prisoner/COMING TOGETHER (Fredric Rzewski). In addition, Hannah and Swayne collaborated in performances of selected contemporary American songs given at Brighton’s Music & Wine at St. Luke’s Gala Concert and London’s charity recital series BREATHE with The Riot Ensemble. Hannah is fortunate and thankful for the generous support past and present by Musicians Benevolent Fund (Help Musicians UK), The Prince’s Trust, Benslow Music and RWCMD.
